Here's where I disagree with @radiofreetom.bsky.social. It's true that the average person in the US, right now, doesn't feel particularly oppressed. But the average person in Germany, in 1933, didn't feel particularly oppressed. They weren't the ones being targeted.

Congress has the power to levy tariffs. Not the President.

Nevertheless, there are 23 Republican U.S. Senators representing the 23 states for which Canada is the top trading partner.

Will they stand up to Trump and reclaim their authority? No. They’ll hide and let their constituents pay more.
Canada is the top import partner for 23 states. Including red states like Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wyoming and swing state Wisconsin.

It’s not a joke. When you vote for a Republican for Congress (or in the case of New Jersey and Virginia, for Governor), Trump will BE your Congressman, Senator and Governor.

These people have no balls when it comes to not doing exactly what he tells them to do. They are Trump’s Chumps.

Democracy is not dead.
You can’t kill an idea. The words of the Declaration and the Bill of Rights will continue to inspire.
But what is dead is the old rules based order that acted as a restraint on people’s worst impulses.
The opposition to Trump needs political brawlers for democracy now.

If we are fortunate enough to have elections and to elect a Democratic Congress and POTUS in 2028, they must move aggressively to pass legislation to abolish ICE and ban masking of LEO. Trump is creating a paramilitary secret police force. ICE as currently constituted is a threat to democracy.

No Kings protest in The Woodlands, Texas (north suburban Houston). This is the first such protest to occur in the community. I overheard a number of folks telling others that they had never attended such an event before but had gotten to the point of feeling they needed to do something.

Media: What are you protesting today?
Answers:
Because he's politicizing and corrupting our DOJ.
He's politicizing our military.
He's politicizing the Fed.
He's politicizing the IRS.
Congress should levy tariffs not a president.
Innocents are being arrested without warrants.

Whatever one might have thought of her, it's impossible for me to take seriously anyone who'd suggest it would have been just as bad or worse.
One didn't have to like her, or even know her name or positions, to vote against fascism. The sabotage of America won on 11/05/24.

The politicization and weaponization of the DOJ & the Bureau would seem a pretty slippery slope.
I am very alarmed.

It can be difficult to fully grasp the depth of Trump’s pathology. Most of us, being normal people, cannot conceive of someone to whom “right” and “wrong” are so totally meaningless. Even most evil people at least acknowledge the existence of right & wrong.

For Trump, concepts of right and wrong
