ExGOP,
OG NeverTrump,
New England Moderate Conservative Pragmatic Libertarian Former Republican
Each year Trump has been in our politics has seemed like ten years. I guess that makes me 151 in Trump years.
Keep our democratic institutions apolitical.
"OG NeverTrump" is in his profile.
And no one has had a better perspective on any of this than NT.
NT always put country over party.
Trump was unqualified, temperamentally unfit, a sure bet to undermine/corrupt our institutions and represented an unacceptable risk to our NatSec.
Atticus knew this

I wonder too.
I'll never get over the national suicide of 11/05/24.
I still see "I never liked Trump, but what choice did we have? You think things are bad now imagine how much worse they would have been under Kamala."
It was imperative Trump lose.
That's all that really mattered.

It was a fun time in Old Saybrook, CT in front of the Katharine Hepburn Center for the Performing Arts (The Kate). Surprised at the size of the turnout. Biggest protest in American history I'm hearing.

the Republican narratives.
Tomorrow is about our Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the rule of law, and that without oversight of the executive and checks and balances, none of us have the liberty we think we have until the day comes when we learn the hard way we don't have any at all

Which is why I'll be participating in tomorrow's No Kings Protests.
Yes, things are happening much quicker than I had anticipated.
At least 90% of the country, probably more, don't seem to notice.
Tomorrow isn't about ideology, and I hope not to see social justice hobbyists playing right into 1/

Also,
this HAS to be seen as ALL Americans from all ideological backgrounds, not only Liberal Democrats, as standing shoulder to shoulder against the authoritarian project that is today's GOP in defense of liberal democracy.

Care must be taken not to play into GOP messaging.

My cheat sheet should I be asked by media people why I'm attending the protest.
I mean, it's hard to know where even to begin.
I feel like I need to write some of it down.

Media: What are you protesting today?
Answers:
Because he's politicizing and corrupting our DOJ.
He's politicizing our military.
He's politicizing the Fed.
He's politicizing the IRS.
Congress should levy tariffs not a president.
Innocents are being arrested without warrants.

I'm here because I care.

God Bless America,
Land that I love,
I'm standing beside her, and trying to guide her back to her originally intended course going back to 1776 and 1787,
Thru the night with a light from above....

America has to sit back and watch our democratic norms, our national treasure, our soft power around the globe, everything of value we needed to conserve be eroded, squandered and destroyed as part of an authoritarian project to destroy liberal democracy.
I'm here because we're being sabotaged.

be elevated to the presidency, especially for a second term in the wake of J6. What does that say about us? That we're in decline and deserve the inevitable demise that awaits us?
That we're a ripe underbelly ready for disembowelment?
I am here protesting today because every day Respectable

Because he lies like the rest of us blink and breath.
He is not a man of honor, virtue, integrity or courage. In fact, he represents the very worst of humanity, exhibiting every loathsome trait known to man. What a poor reflection on our country that this manifestly unfit human being would

is belligerent and threatening to our friends and cozies up to dictators and despots.
Because he has threatened military operations to take by force Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal.
Because he empowers himself through division and is politically impotent by unity.

Because we elect presidents, not kings. We fought a war against King George III to unshackle ourselves from living beneath those who operate above the law and oppress We the People.
Because "we are a country of laws and not of men," to paraphrase John Adams.
Because he

Because he should be in prison and not in the WH after J6.
In any other advanced society, he would be.
The world wonders.
Because he's holding up the release of the Epstein Files, possibly because they would incriminate him.
Because oversight of the executive is evaporating before our eyes.
