That's more than 1,100 jobs lost at the CSIRO over the last two years.

"Combined, the staff association estimates that equates to cutting the agency’s size by a third."

This is more cuts to the CSIRO than was attempted by the Abbott government.

CSIRO to slash hundreds of jobs in cost-saving drive
The staff association at the nation’s leading scientific research organisation says the latest round of cuts marks “a sad day for publicly funded science”.

Our science budget. Fund CSIRO #auspol #TimAyresMP
And this doesn't even fully capture how bad it is either, because a significant portion of what science funding the Australian government does do is also just like, corporate tax breaks. This is something I whipped up last year and though it's hard to read it shows what our science budget is doing.

Tim Ayres might need to be sent a few strongly worded letters- this is a disgrace

Fair call
Your choice is quite literally a bipartisan cabal of pedophilic drone-wielding genocidal oligarchs that suck each other off in depraved games of domination and blackmail, or, socialism and a habitable planet, and you're struggling with that choice?! Dafuq is wrong you?

Adopting a renewables future is not just a moral necessity but a strategic imperative for Australia
"Australia’s bottom-tier ranking reflects decades of bipartisan policy failure: reliance on extraction rather than production; property speculation, not innovation; privatisation over public investment; and political capture by fossil capital." #renewables #auspol

'A national humiliation': Australia at bottom of new renewables ranking
As the Coalition abandons net zero, Andrew Forrest has quietly moved on not just to net zero, but to real zero.

Sod ‘em indeed #auspol
All that said it’s hard not to watch this without a sense of weary despair… we won’t save this world will we. Somehow the momentary needs and greed of vested interest will win out. A tiny self-absorbed few will do for the rest of us… they’ll blight the future to line their pockets. Sod ‘em.

Critical thinking and courage to challenge those wealthy ‘haves’ is seriously lacking in the Libs and the Nats
Blyth, after months of hearing evidence about SA’s devastating algal bloom, says re net zero “I don’t think that we can be stewards of the environment if we can’t afford it.”

@ABC730 why? Why give Barnaby Joyce the air time? It always ends up the same where he simpers and smirks and loves the spotlight but nothing he says makes sense. Surely you can find a quality interviewee from whom we can learn something?

Having recently spent a month in China I was amazed by the hundreds of KMs of Wind turbines across the mountains of the Gobi desert (seen when flying from Urumqi to Beijing). There was a lot of solar and significant tree planting also. Amazing country.
