In 2012, President Obama awarded Doar the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, for his lifetime of service. Doar died in 2014 at age 92. He is remembered for his pursuit of justice and the rule of law and his courageous efforts to bring about social change. /end
