When I was 14, I saw a problem and came across a neat solution and thought, “can’t be that hard.”

Was ridiculously laborious and so it turned out I was the first and only person to ever publish something like that open source. It is in wide use.

It taught me skills that directly aided my career.

when i was 14 i wrote a raytracer in a day just off intuition and wikipedia alone. it's not like i've gotten dumber. i know this sounds ridiculous, but i think it's literally just a confidence thing. i used to believe i was smart. i need my ego back

this is so true it hurts. i used to blitz through game jams while writing new songs weekly and training parkour and translating webnovels, all with a full-time job. my soul was on fire and it was impossible to contain. now i struggle to keep even one thing alive. when did i decide everything is hard
