Apart from the fact the leader of the right mocked Reiner, one small difference is that Reiner's day job was making movies that people loved, while Kirk's starting point was creating enemies list of professors to be fired or harassed. These are not the same things.

Because of this reason, I think it’s some of their best work. An enchanting 3 hour listen I’ve revisited several times in the short time it’s been out. Glory be The Necks
'It's uncommon for a group’s release this far down the line to stand as the ultimate expression of their craft. And yet there is a strong case for Disquiet, the 19th studio album by these tenacious Australians, being just that'

The Necks - Disquiet is No 87 in tQ's AOTY 2025 Chart

I regrettably passed on this reissue of Sun Ra’s debut because of the price tag and my preference to finding an earlier pressing, but the hype and feedback got the best of me and when they did a 2nd run this year I grabbed it. It’s a beaut, but at quite the price.

Another stellar outing on this late 70s session with a Chet Baker Quartet featuring Duke Jordan, whose compositions are featured, as well as Danish bass-master Niels-Henning Ørsted Peterson and Norman Fearrington on drums. So much under appreciated Steeplechase gold.

Steeplechase has also been repressing select titles like this beautiful set from the duo of Archie Shepp and Horace Parlan taking on some traditional blues numbers. A follow-up to their magnificent “Goin’ Home” album, also a Steeplechase release.

Johnny Griffin’s Blues for Harvey is inarguably one of the highlights of Steeplechases catalogue. Scorching lineup

This era, and album in particular, from Sun Ra is the most meaningful to me. While I gravitate towards the experimental free jazz, the hard bop/big band tunes remind me of listening to jazz with my grandpa when I was a teen. Much beloved ABC/Impulse reissue of Supersonic Sounds on tap.

I'm going to keep saying this in my effort to speak it into reality: Supreme Court should have at least 100 Justices with rotating panels (and maybe an en banc option). No single Justice should have so much power and they shouldn't be names everyone knows.
A court with a normal-ish conservative majority would have been tolerable. I'm not eager for court packing, impeaching justices, and other such options. But this court sticking around post-Trump is untenable. They've already torched their own legitimacy, the only question is what do we do about it.
Democrats need to lay the groundwork for reform by attacking the villains on the Supreme Court - loudly, angrily, personally, relentlessly. And they should start now.

I want us to hang on to the fact that the people who were murdered were just civilians out in boats, most likely fishermen, who had never even heard the sketchy conclusions of American officials for which they were executed, much less had a chance to defend themselves.
Megyn Kelly on alleged war crimes: "I really do kind of not only wanna see them killed in the water, whether they're on the boat or in the water, but I'd really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so they lose a limb and bleed out."
