D’Angelo has spoken against his sex icon image. He was pushed into that by the label and hated when he was on tour and ladies were treating him like a stripper. I hope in his passing we can celebrate his incredible musicality and dedication to the craft. 🌚

Heartbreaking: Neo-soul legends Angie Stone and D’Angelo both passed away in 2025, just 7 months apart. Stone died in March at 63. D’Angelo died today at 51. They shared a son together. An entire generation’s soundtrack, gone. Rest in power to both 🕊️💔

D'Angelo to Rolling Stone in 2015:

"The music business is a crazy game, especially for somebody like me who is really a purist about the art ... Trying to balance the pressures of commercialism, it’s a tightrope."

On October 14, 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was awakened by a phone call from his wife telling him he had won Nobel Peace Prize. At the time he was the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize (age 35) and only the second Black person to win the award.

The image is a graphic commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize on October 14, 1964. The background is navy with a cream banner at the bottom.

In the Upper right corner is the logo for Emergent Justice, a white butterfly on a background of black, blue, orange and purple.

Center Right: Two round, gold-colored replicas of the Nobel Peace Prize are displayed, indicating the prestigious award won by Dr. King.

Center: A vintage newspaper clipping features a black-and-white photo of Dr. King, receiving the call. The front page header proclaims, "Martin Luther King Wins The Nobel Prize For Peace."

Below that are two lines of text “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awarded Nobel Peace Prize”.

Inside the cream banner at the bottom of the image is the date “October 14, 1964”. On each side of the date are stylized doves in navy.
