BEAN TREES I am a fan of J Russell Smith’s Tree Crops a permanent agriculture. There are dozens of us! Trees are extremely efficient at producing food, they require relatively less water, obviously less soil damage since they’re perennial, less fertilizer since they don’t disrupt the soil as much and if they’re deciduous shed their leaves as a natural mulch. A lot of tree based agriculture has been focused on fruit, which can be a staple-food crop, but Smith also puts an emphasis on staple every day carbohydrate and fat/protein production.

This is a preface: I am offering a sweet snack box based on this snack section from Box 4, which has all the amanatto, candied chickpeas, peanut brittle, and tamarind candy.
