My iPhone updated and now it’s got the liquid glass UI. I do not like it and wish I could fully reverse it. Thankfully I was able to get it more functional with accessibility settings.
Does anyone like that UI?

i want to be clear about this: worker’s rights also includes the right to be free from racist or sexist or gendered abuse at your job.

Wilsey didn’t get fired because of her views. Wilsey was fired as a result of her actions, which were grotesque and effectively violent.
If she wanted to keep her job, she just needed to not cause fear and conflict while at her place of employment.
“Those of us on the left should be fighting to improve protections for workers of all races, and thereby for the betterment of people’s material conditions regardless of their views,” Arash Azizi argues:
Why the Cinnabon Story Doesn’t Make Me Happy
The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

Yeah. On some level this shit is so simple. Claiming victimization at the hands of leftist university thought police is the quickest answer to the question, “How can I make trans people’s lives just a bit more miserable AND get famous doing it?”

List of dems who voted to role back DC’s police reforms includes two from Washington, @repkimschrier.bsky.social and @gluesenkampperez.house.gov.
Bad enough that DC doesn’t have representation in congress. I definitely wonder what these two were thinking, to vote against DC’s own decision-making 🗳️
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

I had a great conversation about this phenomenon with some sociologists at ASA once. A colleague took me to task for failing to see how they KNOW the reference. They aren’t misreading literary references — they are wielding them to demonstrate their power to shape our ethics.

I’ve stopped buying salt water sea food because 1) some mammals that live in the ocean appear fo be starving, and 2) #fishing businesses don’t seem able to coordinate their practices to actually be #sustainable.
Thank goodness for tofu and pasture-raised poultry.
