Storm chaser (🌪️), school counsellor (🎓), photographer (📷), and cross stitcher (🪡). Calgary, AB based, but I'm happiest road tripping. @adolwyn in most other places.

A re-introduction:

I’m Beth. I’m a full time high school counsellor and a part time storm chaser in the summer.

I think a lot about pretty storm photos, mental health, books, cross stitch, and side hustles.

I’ve been chasing since 2007 and peaked in May 2016.

Good to meet you all (again!) 👋🏻

Bluesky storm friends - I really don’t want to have to use the bad place for Canadian weather photos/updates.

What are your favourite starter lists of Canadian chasers who actively chase/post current photos/footage (rather than reposting forecasts/warnings/etc).
This is VERY very exciting. Very with all capital letters kind of exciting.

If anyone is looking to get the F out of this dumpster fire and has climate model experience, here's a great (and rare) Canadian insurance company opportunity. Don't have to be Canadian! aviva.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/Extern...

And then there's Dora. Had some fun this weekend retouching all my prints with my new Lightroom know-how. Don't ask me why it's been 6 years and I still don't have this on my wall
I feel like you’d enjoy the road trip I’m going to take once I retire or take a sabbatical. 😂
It’s snowing in Calgary. It’s landspouting two hours away. Alberta.
Another incredible photo of the landspout tornado half an hour ago near Tilley and Rolling Hills from Bantry Seed Farms #abstorm
Happy birthday, Aaron! Hope it’s the best 40th birthday ever!
The only wild stories I have are ones where you were there having a much more wild time. :D
My doctor: I want you to try taking this drug to see if we can help you feel better.

Me: researches said drug, sees that side effects include nausea and other GI side effects.

My body, before even filling the prescription: HERE, HAVE SOME NAUSEA AND OTHER GI SIDE EFFECTS. We’re starting early!
“The Sauce” from here on out.
I can still say I think you’d do Good Podcast. :)
@braydonmoreso.bsky.social for his coverage and relentless pursuit of all things severe weather.

@ratzlaff.bsky.social for his work around Space Weather, earth weather, and sky atmospherics.

@davemason.bsky.social for his work with Olympus, severe weather, space photography, and more.
Since we’re recommending people, @cmcalgary.bsky.social honestly does inspire me with their exploring of Calgary with a camera. They’d be a great person to interview - from their knowledge of all the sides of the city but also in their use of different tech to capture the city - big and small.

I wrote about this a bit in my last book but it really shakes me that a defining feature of this catastrophic era is that we just keep going to work. We work through pandemics, we work through natural disasters, we work through economic calamity, we work through coups, we work, we work, we work.
