Congratulations to the excellent team @leigh-day.bsky.social and their courageous client for pursuing and winning a case that we were delighted to fund @lawforchange.uk
Documents show that for nearly two years Sheffield Hallam University complied with a demand from a Chinese Government foreign intelligence service to halt research about human rights abuses in China.

This morning while cycling through single file traffic suddenly an SUV was speeding head on through the red light: massive poppy at the front and after not managing to flatten me the gammon showed me the middle finger. I guess he was late for the flute practise at the orange order down the road.
the relative who's visiting turned up with a huge poppy badge on his shirt collar and i kept looking at it like
a do not press sign next to a yellow button
Alt: a man looking at a "do not press" button as if he wants to press it

Babe, what's wrong, you haven't touched your remembrance day pizza
We will fight them on the quiches
I literally had to tell them in my last class that teaching is:
I teach X and we test X. (not chatGPT's Y, U, W, or Y*U)
My students now basically ignore my teaching and just paste the coding exercises into chatGPT. That then results in the best case in super convoluted code and in the worst case some off topic "solution". When they then get a low mark they challenge it.
It started with "too many polish plumbers". Apparently Brexit should have put a lid on all of that isn't it?

#albania telling it as it is...
"You left Europe because you wanted less boats, you have more boats. You left Europe because you wanted more investment. You have less investment."

It always boils down to "What I don't like". "woke" = don't like. "fake news" = don't like. Or in the UK here the brexiteers call everything "Anti-democratic" what they don't like (coming from the brexit vote).

I hear the Epstein Ballroom will be illuminated solely by gaslighting.
But, but AI is superhuman??? The tech bros say so.
As somebody said here: "The whole sales pitch of AI is: you are a moron but we'll help you to wing it!"
"Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which makes it an offence to deposit or dispose of waste in a way likely to pollute land or water, including pouring liquids into street drains." because of some takeaway coffee poured into a drain. 3 officers involved. 🥳
And there is the problem right here. My fuse-box is right behind that wall but there is the pavement... @glasgowcc.bsky.social. A cable gully would solve it but not allowed. Instead I can walk 10mins to the next charger which is often blocked by combustion engine drivers and never enforced.
While I've seen the first @ukri.org projects about "Beyond Net Zero!" bullshitting away the reality is: councils preventing home charging, blocking wide adoption of EVs and trying to cash in by forcing people to use their premium chargers. Via @privateeyenews.bsky.social.

Just posting because everyone needs to see a walking moai. 😝
📰 Experimental archaeology confirms the theory that Rapa Nui (Easter Island)'s moai could have been 'walked' using ropes and as few as 15 people!

As somebody who is not following this mainly I could have easily fallen into this trap. After all it's not about smartphones but hijacking this for political gain. Just awful. See the replies to this which are quite revealing.
Meeting yesterday with Brianna Ghey's mother Esther - and pupils at Brianna's former school - was a powerful reminder of why controls on social media and smartphone use in schools is so important for children, teachers and parents. (1/2)

This remains the funniest way to hear about an internet outage, though.
