Wait, I'm getting a note.
"Iger said the deal also fulfills a longtime desire by Disney to put user-generated content on its Disney+ streaming platform. Disney initially plans to put select videos created on Sora onto Disney+ to increase engagement with users, especially younger ones." www.businessinsider.com/disney-bob-i...

And some cool unique one-offs that might not hit streaming. The last movie that I saw in theaters was a filmed version of the Mendez/Radcliffe/Groff "Merrily We Roll Along".
getting people back into theatres requires two things: a greater diversity of well-produced and marketed films, along with exhibitors working to build community around the idea of moviegoing
I am not sure how to get people back into theaters or if it's possible, but I do know that if the strongest remaining argument is "you SHOULD," or something about the holiness of the collective big-screen experience, the battle is lost. That has no traction with people who don't already believe it.

Assignment for public defenders, immigration lawyers, civil rights lawyers, and legal academics: use the phrase "Kavanaugh stop" in briefs and law review articles. The first few times, use scare quotes and cite articles that use that term.

We can get this in a published opinion in no time.

I don’t think they’re ready for the flood of Rule 34 content that’s going to come out of this.
Well this ain’t good.

Umm... this seems very very very bad, but also, like an overwrought plot point from a Call of Duty video game. Is that how Hegseth et. al. really see the military?

It's not just children - no one needs AI to create.
People told him, loudly and vehemently, what a terrible idea this was when he first posted about it and he has chosen to ignore them because he doesn't actually care about anything but the $.

Children do not need A.I. to create. Full stop.

Yup. One of the many things I love about building and painting minis is that AI can’t do it.

Had a tool (glitch. com) that let students build & host websites for free, w/ a codespace & preview pane, & a way to upload & store assets. It ruled, so it got bought out & killed. I'm on page 7 of writing up instructions for how to replicate this on GitHub. Don't know if my intro kids can do this.

Sam Altman's imagination sucks. Many of us have done it multiple times w/o chat GPT. Not to mention all of human history.
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

Feeling pretty disheartened today. Gearing up for the culmination of our LEGO robotics unit, a SumoBot competition, and in my 2nd period, 6 out of 10 groups couldn't even be bothered to get their robots out of storage. Just staring at their phones (which, for liability reasons, I can't confiscate).

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

I don't have any illusions about the United States military, what it does, or how many times this has happened before

but the fact that they sat there for 41 minutes, watched two scared, human beings desperately struggling to stay alive, and then murdered them has fucked me up so deeply
