Day 52 - no hobby. Parent-Teacher conferences at school, then the last United game of the season. They capped it off with a 2-1 win!
Oh wow - those are spaceship designs from the old Iron Crown Enterprises game Silent Death! Love seeing those again - I played that game a ton about 30 years ago.
Not a jury of my peers. This sucks on every level I can think of. Kill it with fire.
Day 51 - got the undercoat for the flesh done on two models. #warhammer #40k #nerdlings
No thanks. This is my Scrooge:
Yeah, just caught a student wearing these in my classroom on Monday. I went thermonuclear - not on him at the moment, but I emailed all his teachers and the principal and parent; he almost got away with wearing them during the PSAT.
New: a $60 mod to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses disables the privacy LED light. This is supposed to light when people are filming with the glasses. We bought the mod, verified it works. Now you can never be sure whether someone wearing Meta Ray-Bans is filming you or not

A $60 Mod to Meta’s Ray-Bans Disables Its Privacy-Protecting Recording Light
Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses usually include an LED that lights up when the user is recording other people. One hobbyist is charging a small fee to disable that light, and has a growing list of customers ar...

Like someone else said, you have to hand it to Trump; he managed to do what even the Flight 93 hijackers couldn't.
ABC News pulled the satellite imagery of the White House comparing Sept. 26 to today.

Remember that if it’s an option for you, give your food bank money rather than food—food banks can buy in bulk and make a dollar go further than individuals can.

(But they will also happily take your donations, and many will take surplus from your garden or game meat from hunting.)
Families are already hanging by a thread, but the sad truth is it’s about to get a lot worse when SNAP benefits don’t go out in November.

It’s time to find our local food banks and help out with donations and volunteer hours if you are able.
Oh hell yeah, that’s worth a follow!
Just the least classy asshole ever. Paging Dr. Freud.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation warned that President Trump’s planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom would “overwhelm the White House itself,” which spans just 55,000 square feet. https://wapo.st/4hmL8rC

NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.
Just lost two students who really liked my classes because family had to do an emergency move in the middle of the year for work reasons. Sucks. I really feel for the kids. Life is chaotic and disappointing sometimes.
Stop scrolling and post two characters who bring you happiness
Day 48 - did the green armor on about 1.2 of the bloat drones. Starting to look like a painted model. After green is flesh, then details, then basing + varnish. New goal is to have these entirely done by Halloween. That’s cutting it pretty close, but I think I can make it. #warhammer #40k #nerdlings

EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

Something I haven’t thought about before - I wonder if the AWS outage right now has anything to do with the amount of compute being pulled by GenAI?
Exclusive: Anthropic spent $2.66 billion on Amazon Web Services in the first three quarters of 2025, around 100% of their estimated revenue. Its costs appear to increase with their revenue, showing little path to profitability.

Woah - thermo-reactive paint? Like mood rings?
This! I love the whole process of creating things! Whether it’s creating and debugging a program or building and painting minis, there’s joy in the process. I’ve been thinking about this The Oatmeal cartoon a lot recently: theoatmeal.com/comics/unhappy
