Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.
The current regime in the US is an absolute disgrace.

Love this image from the before-time.
I...have questions!
Yes! I had two Auntie Kathys, only one of which was related.
My auntie Deanne who helped look after me when I was a baby was in fact my second cousin once removed. Which as a baby I totally knew.
Okay so I keep seeing people talk about how many people use the words aunt and uncle more loosely and

1) holy cow I am appalled to realize THIS is why

2) anyone who says they do not know that people use aunt & uncle about people who don’t strictly meet that definition seem kinda disingenuous
My Dad would say, "poor old boy, look at him". But also the leader of a such a grim, harmful regime.
Lights are on but nobody is home.
We have a broken Roomba for President.

Seemingly no amount of carnage - from Yemen to Gaza - will cause Labour to deviate from it's decades-old policy of arming the world's worst human rights abusers with the most advanced means of violence. No war crimes too grave. No death toll too high.

like so many days since the blitz, today was terrifying. but the terror is outpaced by the burning hot solidarity of parents blocking school streets, hundreds of neighbors walking patrol, bicyclists chasing SUVs broadcasting whereabouts, and whistling winemoms bringing the fire of one thousand suns.

dear US friends, when a sitting president (re)builds the seat of government, it almost always means the president has no intention of leaving at the end of term. your African friends with decades of experience

This is 100% correct. Including as to the chaos the Gender Critical Ideological Movement so beloved of Labour has now descended into as their facade of respectability crumbles like the Berlin Wall.

They remind me of those people who say, they are "all for human rights, but...", and you know that whatever comes out after that will be a horror. Their whole position is based on the view that Article 8 doesn't apply to trans people.
Put it this way, when all this crashes and burns, which country do you think he will be fleeing to?
And now I will too!

I used to teach a college level 'community organizing' class many years ago. After a class one day, a student came to me and said "it's so much work to organize. I thought change just happened." I think of that student often.
Sounds like a fine balm (though if I eat peppermint, I regret my life choices for days)!
Space science podcasts for me. "Today we are going to discuss a galaxy discovered by the James Webb Telescope that appears to have no dark matter..." And...out.

This photo accompanying a news story about the heist at the Louvre is perfection.
We have had a full decade of this created directly by the UK arms trade, in Yemen, then in Palestine. And before that in East Timor. And before that...

Stop the arms trade.
New garage band name just dropped, fellas.
