I will never understand why we pass around CEOs in the US among companies--even after they fail or, like this, shouldn't be hired ever again. It's like only an elite number of douches can possibly be CEOs...even if they're terrible. And, companies are eager to hire them after they've been fired.
Also relevant and also not talked about: This is the new president of Paramount 👇

In its 2023 filings to the SEC, NBCUniversal literally reported that it “terminated Mr. Shell’s employment With Cause” following an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against him

Riddle me this:

If Trump's military hasn't issued any illegal orders, why has Pete Hegseth been unable to come up with *any* legal justification for killing those fishermen in boats in the Caribbean?🤔

Any Democratic candidate unwilling to preach this loudly on the campaign trail should be ignored and/or chastised.

Also unrelenting phone calls from constituents to earnestly follow through with all of this.
When the moment comes, be ready to *loudly and unrelentingly* demand:
Investigations.
Charges.
Prosecutions.
Sentences.
Legislation.
Regulation.
Enforcement.

Until there is justice.

As NASHVILLE crews sound the 🚨 about tunnel safety concerns and walk out, worth remembering just last week it was reported the NV governor got fines against Boring dropped when firefighters & workers “suffered chemical burns” in Vegas

Are they counting on that from @GovBillLee?

MORE: The local crew foreman on the NASHVILLE tunnel dig says Elon’s Boring Company has been wildly late on pay, and has been trying to hire his guys behind his back.

He also says despite what Steve Davis said about safety, the situation is dangerous.

I'm seeing a lot of posts about how little most authors make...and that's truer than true, so if you take a chance to support a lesser-known author, it means a lot to us. Also, remember, your 5-star review will counteract the 1-star "female lead is unlikeable" reviews. You'll be a hero.

My high school teacher asked us to share a favourite poem. She said my choice by Roland Bottrall was a poor example of a poem.

I said nothing. 40 years later I am certain she was wrong.

It has many poetic credentials, but most of all it has heart, and truth, and soul.

It's a classic coaching technique to interrupt a deposition question with a 'speaking objection' that suggests to the witness what they should say.

It is of course prohibited, and it is no surprise the Trump admin lawyers were doing it constantly for Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino.
And, here is Bovino's third day of depositions, November 4: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The lawyers:
Locke Bowman for the plaintiffs.
Sarmad Khojasteh for the government.

Great thread and a good historic lesson on how vital the freedom of movement is, which highlights how much concern we should have with a national surveillance system that flags “suspicious” travel patterns.
This Day in Labor History: November 25, 1865. Mississippi created the first of the Black Codes. Designed to recreate slavery in all but name, this signified the South’s resistance to the freeing of their labor force and the lengths to which it would go to tie workers to a place under white control.

And Democrats have opportunities to build on their November gains by flipping more offices: in Tennessee, in Georgia, in Florida.

And that's just the tip of a busy election month.

Demand for bad news is insatiable, and we’ve built a media ecosystem where the vast majority of content creators have total freedom to simply invent bad news to meet that demand

It’s worse than that, too: because in the unregulated information marketplace, media producers live or die entirely on their ability to compete with each other, they have a powerful structural incentive to produce more bad news and endlessly validate the gloom of audiences. Race to the bottom
I think we underestimate how addictive bad news is for people who consume it.
