Feeling the need for a little peace/love/kindness/gratitude?

Then I highly recommend a little 'Repair Shop' binge. 💗
Just saw that Tubi has acquired 311 (!) episodes of the most soothing show on British television, "The Repair Shop". If, y'know, anyone needs that kind of thing.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

A Few Good Men. Best in Show. A Mighty Wind. Miss Congeniality. Barcelona. All three movies in Linklater's "Before" trilogy. Music & Lyrics. Michael Clayton. All films that were able to be made because of the production company Reiner co-founded in order to give talented filmmakers creative freedom.
without Rob Reiner’s Castle Rock production company we wouldn’t have:

City Slickers, Honeymoon in Vegas, In the Line of Fire, The Shawshank Redemption, Before Sunrise, Dolores Claiborne, Lone Star, Waiting for Guffman, and more - in a six-year period alone

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.

I interviewed Rob Reiner as one of the bonuses for the @criterion.bsky.social BluRay of SPINAL TAP. We talked for an hour about the movie and his career and then they shut off the cameras and we talked about movies for another hour. A delightful, unhurried genius.

Australian here 👋

Stop saying the tragedy in Sydney demonstrates that strict gun laws don’t work.

There were ZERO mass shootings in Australia in the two decades after strict gun laws were passed in 1996.

We have so much we need to do, but strict gun laws remain a critical part of the solution.

This is disgusting racism on open display, and both interviewer and interviewed should face consequences.
Harry Cole of Sun interviews Connor Tomlinson - who advocates banning ethnic minority MPs from parliament

Tomlinson regrets sacrificing Suella Braverman but feels sure (on no evidence) she would sacrifice herself to remove the risk of Kemi Badenoch, Rishi Sunak, Priti Patel & Shabana Mahmood!

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

I remember living in Holland and having to correct the American tourists when they would inevitably say that they single handedly saved Europe from Hitlers army. They didn't believe me that it was the Canadians, including my grandpa, that liberated Holland.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

ROSIE: You've now lost two MPs to the Liberal Party... Is this a problem of your leadership?

POILIEVRE: No, it's a problem of Mark Carney's leadership that after Canadians clearly rejected a costly Liberal majority... he is trying to manipulate his way through backroom deals.

Why, it’s almost as if the administration wants to lower the population through loss of immunity, inability to pay for healthcare, and removal of government support to supplement health insurance.

A small population is easier to control. Want to fight tyranny? Get vaccinated.
The thing about measles is that it’s the only known virus that triggers immune amnesia - it causes your immune system to forget everything it has previously learned. Meaning you essentially reset to zero and are now at risk of basically everything.

It can take 2-3 years to get immunities back.

In Canada we have this “Victims of Communism” monument that was put up at great expense in Ottawa and they finally decided not to engrave any of the intended names on it because, as it turned out, a lot of these names had connections to Nazi movements!

Q) Why are Conservative MPs crossing the floor instead of engaging in the leadership review just a weeks away? If you don't like where your party is headed, why not stay and change its direction?

A) Because the review is a formality — Mr. Poilievre's people made sure there's nobody to replace him.

I've seen a lot of headlines suggesting that there's a religious "revival." Especially among young people—and young men in particular.

The numbers tell a very different story.

She worked to promote birth control in Canada. She was arrested, charged and put on trial.
Her trial, the Eastview Birth Control Trial, became a landmark case in Canada.

There’s a mass murderer in the White House.
The Trump-Vance admin has been committing illegal strike after illegal strike. They're trying to normalize it.

They're counting on you to lose track, to be too overwhelmed to remember the gravity of what they're doing.

But we're keeping track of every single strike.

So far: 22 strikes. 87 killed.

The Trump administration is committing illegal strike after illegal strike. Don’t look away, and don’t lose track.
