Here's what I mean by the distribution of black on the wings from a single frame in your video - classic winter sanderling.
awiner.bsky.social
Seriously, 100% sanderlings. Pale gray above except for black at the bend of the wing and in the primaries is classic fall/winter. (See attached photo.) None show the tapering, downcurved bill of Western S. Behaviorally, playing at the surf line on a beach is a strong hint too.
Sanderling in winter plumage - pale gray above, with dark at the bend of the wing., white below. And on sand

I think יש and אין are the better pair, but I do indeed get the idea!
awiner.bsky.social
Def. Sanderlings. Easy way to tell is Sanderlings are 73% cuter than Western Sandpipers. (Science!)

Also, Satisfaction by Otis Redding. And Satisfaction by Cat Power. And Satisfaction by Bjork & PJ Harvey.
awiner.bsky.social
It's an Otis Redding original! Shows just how mind-blowing Aretha was - how do you outdo Otis [bleep]ing Redding so thoroughly that everyone forgets it's his song?

A limb removed from a living lizard would take this over the top.

The Atlantic is where I first learned James Fallows and Ta-Nehisi Coates's names and read their work. It's also why I know JS's name. Don't know how to parse that.

Supreme Court: of course states can regulate, and restrict access to, medical procedures if there’s a compelling public interest

Colorado: (bans conversion therapy for minors)

Supreme Court: no not like that, we only meant abortion

We are spoiled here in California to share our space with these gorgeous creatures - Red-shouldered Hawk 🪶. The form in California is particularly elegant - so much so it's been considered a possible split as Elegant Hawk (Buteo elegans). This one was especially unconcerned with my presence.
The head of a Red-shouldered Hawk - brick red on its belly and shoulders, shading into a pale gray face with many long darker streaks.

Zohran Mamdani's team is outstanding. What a brilliant idea.

"Until It’s Done" is new series about New Yorkers, past and present, who refused to accept that a worthy goal was impossible."

First one is on how Nellie Bly changed treatment of mentally ill people by exposing terrible practices.

We keep wanting things to be true that just aren't true.

We keep saying incorrect things, like, "People get more conservative as they get older!"🤡 When the truth is that US racism is so extreme that it kills off most of the Black Americans before they have a chance to get older.

Ada Loveland, Grace Hopper and Margaret Hamilton are the patron saints of programming for good reason.

Hamilton also coined the term "software engineering"; she got told off for it by (male) hardware engineers as they felt it was "inflating her work's importance".
delafina777.bsky.social
Never forgive men for treating programming as a meaningless thing your secretary did while women were inventing and developing the field, then, once they realized it was going to be important, shoving women out of it and claiming only Male Logic Brains could perform it.
grimalkina.bsky.social
Gaslight of the century that we made programming totally inaccessible to huge portions of the population and now we're told that the reason is programming can only emerge from the innate genius of the brilliant few

This is the only opinion I'd fight you over. Pesach is great, Sukkot is better.

(A) lol and (B) pedantically, they almost always agreed (at least in the records), the disputes are beit h v. beit sh. Which you probably know.

I love it, but I'd suggest Inherent Vice or Vineland as a first Pynchon read.

Heck, now we're at war cause Mason & Dixon is Pynchon's best!
