I have this idea for a bookstore selling only carefully curated self-published books.

The ads would say “We don’t have that” over & over as customers ask for Maas, King, Yarros, Sanderson, etc.

“Well what do you have?”

“The most incredible books you’ve never heard of.”

By characterizing abortion as health care, international orgs have pushed back against abortion exceptionalism. The World Health Organization recognizes that “[a]bortion is a simple health care intervention.” Numerous countries have adopted laws and policies to align with WHO recommendations.

I’ve got an audible credit and would love to use it on an indie book. Any horror, fantasy or science fiction books you’d recommend/ like to pitch? No romance or spice please.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

You can't appease bigots. You give them sports, and then they come at you about bathrooms. Or prisons, or domestic abuse shelters, or puberty blockers, or one of the thousand other fronts they're already attacking trans people on. Better to fight them hard wherever they rear their ugly heads.

If you want a sapphic focused interrogation of Jane Eyre (and Castle Rackrent) this is the one.

It's so nuanced, well-written and historically informed. A delight to read. But it will haunt you.
16) The Wife in the Attic by Rose Lerner

This book has been haunting me since I first read it (Kit's face at the door for anyone who's read it without spoilering it for the rest of you!) Such an interesting sapphic retelling of the governess story with moral quandaries and no easy answers.
