2025 is the year I activated.

I joined the Colorado Chapter of The Wildlife Society's Conservation Affairs Committee.

I joined the board of Friends of Loveland Public Library.

I coordinated with scientists and legislators to propose legislation that has a real chance of seeing a vote in 2027.
I'm feeling a little behind, but that's only because I'm extremely behind.

Historian of eugenics here. I don't normally like to retweet bad arguments, but this is such a fundamental misunderstanding of eugenics, I think it's important to point out. I don't have time to debunk all of the ways this is inaccurate, but I'll highlight a few things and then recommend some books🧵

If only there had been signs that a group of below average men who espouse misogynist views and are led by an adjudicated rapist would treat their female colleagues poorly.

The Republicans are revolting!

They've always been revolting.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is staring down an internal revolt, with anger spilling out from conservative hardliners, to regular members and senior GOP leaders alike.
Mike Johnson faces widespread Republican revolt
One member called Johnson a "political novice."

when you censor the word "rape," people who have it muted for trigger purposes will still see it.
it does not affect the algorithm on bluesky one way or another. you're just circumventing people's protections.

don't do that.

The cabin we're staying at has bear-proof trashcans and my wife can't for the life of her figure out how to open them and I can't believe this is how I find out she's a bear.

A *huge* vaccine victory. I've been writing on this for years; Australia has seen remarkable progress in cervical cancer prevention with the HPV vaccine. I love seeing science triumph like this.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

Maybe I'm missing an important point, but the Ford gov's claim that "Landlords will lower rents if they can rent out more of their properties now that we've given them more power over tenants" feels like something you'd say if you'd never literally never heard of capitalism before in your life.
