#Bookvember Day 16. While I read most anything but horror or erotica, my favorite is fantasy. Mostly urban fantasy & historical fantasy. I love worlds where paranormal species exist. (Especially dragons. Who doesn't like dragons? 😀)

I think one of the most gutting moments for any author is discovering their brand-new book on a piracy site, not even 24 hours after release. Here's the truth most readers never hear: across the industry, authors are struggling. The ones I talk to every week? Their preorders and sales are half of what they were two years ago. Some are down to a third. And while we may write fictional worlds, we still live in the real one. Authors get paid once a month, 60-90 days late. There's no salary. No PTO. It's just hope, hustle, and the grace of readers who choose to support us. Every book we publish comes with out-of-pocket editing, cover art, formatting, advertising, and platform fees, long before we ever see a dime. So please, don't use piracy sites. They hurt real people. If you want to read a book - any author's book - please spend the $6. It truly makes a difference. ~tmcromer.com

I've already said something about "Discovery of Witches" so today? Uh...again, so many to choose from in #urbanfantasy. My pick would be "Clean Sweep" by Ilona Andrews, the first in the Innkeeper Chronicles series. It's fun and fast-paced.

I always say one needs to learn the Latin binomials of herbs to avoid the confusion of common names. This book lists the herbs by Latin binomial. I did include a cheat sheet, though. No homework! 😉

Runes and Tarot are similar in that they offer guidance. Where I’ve seen a difference: Runes don’t go into quite as much depth as Tarot, forcing you to ponder and figure things out for yourself a little more. Since I suck at reading cards, I'm obliged to *think* about the message!

Just cuz I suspect it's gonna be relevant: "underage women" is a contradiction in terms. There are adults and there are minors, who are children. Ditto "nonconsensual sex." That's rape. The only reason to play semantic games is because you benefit from obscuring the simplicity of these terms.

My head throbbed as I fitted my key into the lock. I didn’t usually get horrible headaches, but that day was, obviously, an exception. I’d had to leave work just a half hour after my lunch break, although I hadn’t eaten a bite. As I opened the door, I was hit by the reek of an unknown perfume. Then familiar and unfamiliar sounds assaulted me. The familiar was my husband’s voice in the throes of ecstasy. The unfamiliar was a female voice, exhibiting the same emotions. The headache immediately got worse, almost blinding me. I’d had my suspicions for a couple of months but now? My worst fears were confirmed. And in our bed! I pulled my cell phone out of my pants pocket, hit the camera function (perhaps a little hard), and headed to the bedroom.

Authors, Beware! There's a firm called "ClaimsHero" doing aggressive social media outreach claiming to
"help" you file to get $ in the Anthropic class action. In fact, it's a bait-and-switch, they are luring authors to sign up with them, then OPTING THEM OUT of the class action so they'll get zilch.
