This forever and ever and ever until we all die

Or do something to stop it

We've written a few songs about it over the past 5 years.... 15 to be exact.

What if Streetlight Manifesto was political? What if ska had synth? What if we are the ones who'll make change?

If a highly respected career prosecutor is willing to face this regime and in no uncertain way say "fuck you" to Trump in the face of losing absolutely everything...
Don't you think you can to?
What do you have to lose?
Nothing they won't take away anyway.
Fight.
If Atlas & Oracle were a band from the 2005-2015 indie rock scene, we'd be Phoenix mixed with the Flaming Lips
(Curb Your Enthusiasm theme starts playing)
“Question for Mayor Adams: when did Nigeria become part of Europe?”
Shout at the void and the void shouts back 😳 another drop in the ocean

Bringing back this thread. These so-called "crime free ordinances" are getting worse. They're the most racist laws you've never heard of, and they're most prevalent in BLUE states. And they're spreading.
A couple of years ago, a client of mine was attacked in their apartment by an abusive partner. The police were called. Charges were pressed against the abusive partner, who later pleaded guilty.
The landlord filed an eviction action against Client for *allowing* a crime to occur in their unit.

"Well, I don't think we're gonna necessarily ask for a declaration of war. I think we're just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country. Okay? We're gonna kill them. You know, they're gonna be, like, dead. Okay? Yeah."

Trump has abandoned even the pretext of following the law.
I'm not sure how improving myself would affect my size actually
Every chance you take to belittle others, I'll take to improve myself. Let's loop back in 5 years and compare notes 😊

The fact that these 2 things can be happening at the same time demonstrates the contempt the ruling class has for the people
The PBR guy got fired for shit like this and his joke was actually funny

i'm so here for these types of comparisons
If the ska scene were frozen desserts, Atlas & Oracle would be an orange creamsicle
We need a new School of Rock with a music teacher who got really into DragonForce after beating Guitar Hero III. He doesn't know how to play any instruments, but he can air guitar like a champ and knows all the words to so, so many songs. Fine, I volunteer.
Besides, he might not even be a man 😘

If you got this far, here's a playlist that expresses how strange I feel in this world: it's all ska but none of it has guitars and at least half the musicians didn't meant to write ska without guitars

but I did 👀

I guess in a way I'm critiquing the "performative male" meme that's been going around. Bc yes it can be funny, but internalizing judgment hurts. I hate a lot of those people now for trying to box me in 🤷‍♀️ & if you think a soft man won't leave you in the dust? You'll learn!
When you're kind to a stranger, they may forget your name- or they may hold on to the memory for years. I know because I have myself been helped. By waiting for certainty of return on investment before doing the right thing, you miss what's in front of you: a chance to learn&grow
If you're thinking "BS, everyone loves gentle people, that's why they think they're so great, and I hate them so bad for that, and I hate that I have to pretend to like them"... Consider 2 things:
1. They felt that way once, and worked past it
2. There's a LOT of people like u
What most don't realize is that it takes fucking strength to remain soft in this world. It takes courage to be kind when doing nothing is an option. It takes wisdom to help strangers, knowing they may never reciprocate. It takes integrity to keep it up despite how many it angers.
I think this is a shortcut that a lot of people like to take without really realizing it. Everyone has a lot of latent anger against men, many for good reason. And sometimes that anger needs to be released. A soft man seems like an easy vicarious target- he won't fight back.
Even when I decided to grow my hair, I had at least a half dozen people try to convince me to get a cut. One said "Trust me you'd look better with short hair and a beard." Thank god I trusted myself instead because lmfao Who the fuck says that?? Trust YOU? About MY body?
I didn't even know I was non-binary until years later, But on reflection, everyone pretty much always treated me like that. I was either failing to be a man, or succeeding at being the wrong type of man. I could never just exist in my own space and make my own choices.
