Went to the comic shop today, bought new books, and thought the whole time "It's cool that the made New Comic Book Day on Tuesday for the holiday.

Some close friends to be get a little frustrated in my tendency to priortise luck in my own career, as they know how I work. I try to explain that work just is buying a lottery ticket. It's necessary, but certainly not sufficient. I know many folks who've worked as hard but the dice have been cruel.

We're living in a golden age of Dad Comics. Remember how your dad's bookshelf had all those John Grisham and Tom Clancy novels on it? Dad Comics are John Grisham and Tom Clancy novels but for us (well, me at least. I don't know your life). Instead of Jack Ryan and Jack Reacher and other cool customers named Jack, Dad Comics star folks like Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' Ethan Reckless, or Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' Lawless family.
