The Morning After was 85th at the box office in 1986 and has an opening sequence that looks like Ed Ruscha's 60's paintings.

Watched an underrated Thanksgiving movie - Sidney Lumet's 80's noir The Morning After w/Jane Fonda as an alcoholic has-been actress who wakes up next to a dead body & Jeff Bridges as an ex-cop who just so happens to stumble into her life to help her. VERY 80's w/ some casual racism too.

RL Burnside was born 99 years ago today in Lafayette County, Mississippi. There's no other blues musician whose music I've enjoyed more than his. Two of my favorite records of his: Mississippi Hill Country Blues and Too Bad Jim. There was a hypnotic quality to his playing. So damn good.

OTD 1967 Strawberry Alarm Clock's "Incense and Peppermints" hit #1 on the charts. Future Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King was in SAC at the time & he was denied a deserved writing credit on their most famous tune.
