My gut tells me it’s in the middle of the pack, for sure. One major factor is innovation, and it’s going to lose points there. That’s not a judgement. I love TFA. But it’s the most derivative instalment, by design.

One of these days, I’d like to (pointlessly) quantify the elements that make Star Wars what it is, using the Original Trilogy as the rubric, and then grade all the major releases based on that rubric. My gut says Rebels will score the highest, and Andor the lowest.

I have said this many times and will continue to say it; Andor is a phenomenal Bladerunner series. It’s not a great example of Star Wars. Well written? Mostly yes, but also debatable. Well shot? Certainly. Great performances? You know it! The best Star Wars? Not even a little bit.

99% of Star Wars: look at these aliens and droids… they’re weird (but secretly an allegory for something social justice related)

Andor: Gosh, human beings sure are interesting. Especially the fair skinned ones (Imperials). Plus, aliens and droids are too expensive.

If I see one more “hot take” about how Andor is the best Star Wars because it’s nothing like any other Star Wars, I’m gonna scream. It sounds to me like you don’t actually like Star Wars if the best example of what you like is specifically the thing that is the least Star Wars thing about Andor.

It was actively harmful to the film. It didn’t match most scenes, the mix had it overpowering dialogue, and it undercut and drama or emotion with its overt nature. More like Nine Inch Nails on a Chalkboard, if you ask me.
