In the shower this morning, I realized I have to change the entire setting of my current project. This will have time-consuming ramifications throughout, but it's best for the WIP.

We know that, for a ton of reasons, a lot of folks don't have as much to spend as they'd like this holiday season. Sooooooo, here's a thread of things you can do that will support your local indie bookstore or other business WITHOUT spending any more than you intended...

I'm extremely proud of the fact that the hardcover of Dreyer's English remains in print nearly seven years after it went on sale, and if you'd like signed copies (they make great holiday gifts!) and to support a local bookstore, head to the Signed Copies tab here:

Friends! It's the big annual Etsy sale!

Select listings up to 25% off at Torch & Arrow!

Goth/Steampunk/Neo-Victorian jewelry, cuff-links, tie bars, hair things & more!

I'm awaiting payment on several book things but bills noted below have made things pretty dire.

Shop: torchandarrow.etsy.com
Adding to this thread: new listings! I know it's been a rough year for everyone, my family included (just hit w/ 2k medical + car bill, so we're scrambling). If Gothy / Neo-Victorian / Vintage / Steampunky things sound cool, check out torchandarrow.etsy.com, your support is so dearly appreciated 🖤

ICYMI, I get royalties for this, if you want to help out a freelancing writer in the heat death of online promo.
My Lambda Award-winning debut novel THE DEVOURERS, a dark, queer, mythic realist tale about sex, love, violence, & shapeshifting, has finally surpassed 20k sales. Those may be rookie numbers to many authors, but for me, it's a big deal, even if not big money. Sincerest gratitude to my readers 🖤

You're never going to be younger than you are now.

Stop being afraid to want things.

You should want things.

How do you start? Write down what you want.

Look at that list when you wake up.

Look at it again midday.

Look at it once more before you go to sleep at night.

Put it into action.

Art is like games. There’s a lot of “grinding” to build stats before you are ready for a boss fight.

If you didn’t do the work to beat the boss fight, was the game as much fun or as meaningful to you? Aren’t the games you spent the most time and energy on the ones that stay with you?

To those using Kickstarter: before backing a project, make sure it's legit. See below: Canadian artist @kness.bsky.social had their work stolen, images generated with the help of AI. 😢
Well this is not a nice start to my week. Someone reported to me that a kickstarter uses my pictures and it’s really sickening because they’re ALL mine with FREAKING AI bg. I already filed a copyright claim but it makes me sick.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.
