Tonight's spooky season movie is Attachment (2022). Two women meet, fall in love, and move in with one of the pair's intense and superstitious mother. A very sweet romance combined with secrets, sacrifice, and a lot of salt. Great performances from the two leads and two supporting cast.

They're coming back for another project in a bit, so I'm going to suggest they get one of these magnetic sweepers to do better cleanup work on other peoples' roofs: if people get fewer flat tires, that could improve their reviews and recommendations.

I get that! These folks have done great work on other things before, the roof and chimney are a big improvement, and I think some of the detritus in the pic is from other earlier work by other people. I figured they hadn't got everything so a little DIY reduced the potential of future problems.

These magnetic sweepers are mostly sold to pick up screws and bolts from auto garage and machine shop floors, so as a commodity item they're cheap, durable, and really easy to find, I got this one at Lowe's for $17. And now I have a magnet on a stick!

This particular magnet broom was only $17 and two sweeps of the area took me about ten minutes, so far cheaper than a flat both in money or time.

I wasn't confident they found everything in a gravel driveway, so after they left I took a magnet-onna-stick and did two complete sweeps of the area. The first sweep snagged twenty nails and staples, the second sweep picked up only three. I'll do a third sweep just for thoroughness.

I had the roof replaced (and the chimney shell redone) over the last week. They cautioned me that because they were throwing the old shingles off the roof into a garbage skip, the area I park in shouldn't be used until they picked up all the shingle fragments with old nails in them.

Double feature considerations:

Obvious one here is A Dark Song (2016).
An alternative would be Bring Her Back (2025), but given the way the story is told, I think Frailty (2001) is an interesting option.
