Ten years ago this book came out and I went to see it in Waterstones and went visibly all funny. Tomorrow it comes out AGAIN. Hot dog. Different cover now, up to date and all that, but the same good ol’ autistic heart. Maybe you should read it or something. @andersenpress.bsky.social

I RAGED at this on the radio yesterday, and will repeat my mantra: you cannot (MUST NOT) ask people to develop 'resilience' or 'grit' against those things that are in your power to change. 'Develop resilience' so often means 'your disability is inconveniencing me, please be less disabled' 🧵
This headline & Streeting's words are an insult to the thousands of neurodiverse kids who've been monumentally failed by an NHS on its knees where early interventions are provided by charities - if at all.

But yeah, put the onus back on to children to suck it up instead of addressing what's broken

They have no fucking idea how much “grit” a gender dysphoric kid with ADHD had to show going to a primary school in the Derbyshire coalfields in the 70s.

The people who write this shit wouldn’t last 5 minutes of my life.

They think we’re fragile? We are the strongest fucking people alive.

I honestly am out of ideas for what is wrong with Streeting if he thinks going back to saying "toughen up" to an undiagnosed 7 year old girl in 1992 crying in the school toilets because i didn't know why i was different, he thinks that's the frickin answer?!

The Prime Minister imitating Enoch Powell’s ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech is sickening.

That speech fuelled decades of racism and division. Echoing it today is a disgrace. It adds to anti-migrant rhetoric that puts lives at risk.

Shame on you, Keir Starmer.

The @societyofauthors.bsky.social can provide a clause to add to your contact. That's what I did.
Writers: before you sign a contract with a publisher, make sure AI isn't replacing your illustrator, your translator, your editor, your jacket designer. Readers: if you're thinking of buying a book, do the same. Refuse. Resist. If AI garbage doesn't sell, people will stop making it.

The BBC keep doing this. This isn't true. This is straightforwardly wrong in law. The ruling *only* applied to the Equality Act 2010. Trans women are still legally women for the vast majority of purposes! That's the whole point of the Gender Recognition Act.

I've put in a complaint. So can you.

World Central Kitchen in Gaza are having to burn shipping pallets because there's no fuel to cook with.

Now their supplies are running out due to the blockade preventing delivery of aid and supplies.

Missed the part where trans people were dragging random people out of cars and setting fire to hotels with people inside. Still, we did use chalk on a statue so that's clearly the same.
The Director of Transgender Trend on the tv, talking about how the Trans Rights protests are the same as the Far Right protests which Starmer shut down, and yet he's "silent" about these "anti-women" protests lol

What a shocker. We aren't even allowed to be upset

Reality of being disabled. But the government and media will lie and push propaganda, exactly as the nazis did, that disabled people are a burden on the state.

As i said before, disabled people were the nazis FIRST target to m*rder en masse. And too many seem to be ignoring that fact.

Mass starvation. Ethnic cleansing. Genocide.

That is what our government is enabling — and it should be eternally ashamed.

End all arms sales to Israel now.

I don't often lack words for what I'm seeing, but I am absolutely without words: TX-03 Congressman really just quoted Joseph Goebbels and then walked out of the committee like he hit a home run.
Oh just Texas Congressman Keith Self directly quoting Joseph Goebbels during a congressional hearing….what planet are we on smh

What the hey, @theguardian.com. Is this your new agenda? Hoping to pick up a few semi-fascist readers, are you? Disabled children - the ideal whipping boy.
They're at it again, friends. Why is the Guardian so invested in painting disabled kids as a burden? This is barely 2 weeks after "potholes"

Lads I've got a book out the day after tomorrow. This is it, this is the fanfare.
To be fair it's a re-release rather than a brand new story, but I updated it and wrote a foreword and everything, and it's got a new cover.
It's called Too Close To Home. It's lovable.

As someone who smoked for a year or two (not very much and long ago), I think the uptick in ADHD diagnoses over the last 25 years is largely because when cigarettes were in vogue, chainsmoking was a decent way to self-med for it. Sure it kills you, but raw ADHD feels like your skeleton wants out.

This report should break something in all of us.

15,613 children.

The first 27 pages of the report list children whose ages are 0.

26% were under the age of 5

Look at this gorgeous beast. Out next Thursday thanks to @andersenpress.bsky.social - in time for almost all of Autism Acceptance Month. The cover is extremely pleasing and you should judge the book by it.

The Massachusetts governor, the city, and the university needs to drop everything to locate and free this girl and make sure this doesn't happen again.

This is DEFCON-1. If they do this to someone who wrote an op-ed in a college newspaper, they will do this to anyone they don't like.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

We're taking the difficult, grown up decision, to steal literal children's lunch money rather than tax wealth.
Labour have leaked they might scrap free school meals for infants & free period products for girls in schools

Yes Lab might be suggesting these things to make what they actually do more palatable, but if thats the case is this fearmongering the grown up politics we were promised
