Why is George Washington not in a suit the way Glenn Beck is? Seems disrespectful
This cringe video actually represents the conservative sensibility very well. All societal problems are the fault of citizens. They are not the product of elite mistakes or wrongdoing.

No, they are your fault. So shut up, go to church, and start obeying people.
Oh good, Glenn Beck has created an AI George Washington. You will be shocked to learn that the AI George Washington created by Glenn Beck sounds exactly like what would happen if Glenn Beck built an AI George Washington to sound exactly like Glenn Beck.

What are you stuffing into your pockets to take home?
My "salad bar" salad is a base of crisp greens, cucumber slices, peas, ham, cheese, a creamy dressing like blue cheese or ranch, croutons, bac o bits.

The ACA was one of the most thoroughly researched & serious bills ever crafted. Those guys did the homework.

Given their goals (keep all the major players in place, but address moral hazards and cost controls) they really couldn’t have done any better except for Lieberman’s public option hammer 1/2

I really need to learn to stop flinging my body around like I am still 16.

Managed to ALMOST dislocate my shoulder by thumping carelessly down into my big comfy bedroom chair.....

Anthropology undergrad gets you a classically well-rounded education that includes the natural and physical sciences, and the humanities, in addition to social and behavioral science.
Outside of a handful of disciplines, philosophy or literature or gender studies will serve that function as well as economics will. And possibly leave a more well-rounded, thoughtful citizen as a happy perk, if you're quaint enough to think that's maybe a thing colleges ought to do too.

Ossoff: "This is so much deeper than the politics. What does it say about the moral condition of this Congress that the thing that has them all tied up in knots is a very simple question: Should people's health insurance premiums go up double or triple? This is a policy choice."

congratulations to Rand Paul on inventing

single payer healthcare
Rand Paul on his healthcare plan: "What if you could join Costco? Costco has 44m members and if one person negotiated for all 44 and they bought a group plan like Toyota or General Motors does, they would be the largest collective entity in the country. They would drive prices down by sheer might."

I want to chat just a second about how long it took me to change just one white man's mind about something.
White men voted for Trump at like 70% or something but that's treated as just an immutable fact of nature.

Hello Missed Connections?
I've loved Sigourney Weaver ever since one of my all-time favorite movies, ALIEN. Couldn't resist going all fanboy on her yesterday & asking for a photo. She told me she's now in the cast of The Mandalorian. Talk about bad timing: she's now in that galaxy far, far away, years after I checked out! 💔

Heh
When I read the excerpt that Vanity Fair published (the one that everyone howled at), I assumed that no editor had laid eyes on it at all.

Turns out they had, in fact, grabbed all the most evocative passages. The (universally mocked) Vanity Fair version was all the best material.

"One helluva bean"

New tagline from the Chickpea Association
When I think about it, I realize that "90s Salad Bar" is how I encountered chickpeas for the first time! They were not part of the Midwestern White Cuisine that I'd been raised on. I was like "this is one hell of a bean, I'm in."
