“I’m going to keep it simple with the pumpkin pie this year. Nothing fussy.”

Proceeds to get fussy.

The “Wheels of a Dream” performance from Ragtime hit a little different this year. It’s a number that always makes me emotional but whew.
Lots of multinational floats and music and dancing during this Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and wondering if this NBC making a subtle commentary on what makes America great (immigrants) and/or a rebuke of Trumpian cruelty.

Thanksgiving AM tradition: cinnamon rolls (splurged on Zingerman’s this year), coffee, puppy snuggles, and the parade in bed.

My biggest tip for pumpkin pie is roasting your canned pumpkin in the oven at 425 for about 15 minutes to concentrate the flavor. It’ll cook off a lot of liquid and lose volume so make sure you roast more than you’ll need for the pie. #bakingsky #baking

Bc of everything going on I outsourced most of the Thanksgiving pies for the first time in over a decade (though I still am making the pumpkin). I guess it will be nice not to stay up until 3am tonight fussing over dough but I will miss the satisfaction of a really pretty final product.

Shout out to the UofM hospital cafeteria for crafting what may be the worst BEC ever offered for public consumption. Two bites and I threw it in the bin.

Chemo pushed to 12/1 because my mom qualifies for a clinical trial! It's a treatment already approved for lung cancer (and is the frontline treatment for that) and in a phase three trial for colon so we're hopeful she gets assigned the med (50/50 chance) and it's effective. Port procedure tomorrow.

I’m just a fucking disaster of a human now. A friend invited us to an academic panel and Doug had to leave early so I was solo at the reception after and I just…don’t know how to BE anymore. I was awkward in the best of times before but now…fucking yikes.

Tuning into the Rock Hall induction since they’re using some of Doug’s photos in the White Stripes induction. So far this Sly Stone tribute is starting the night off strong.

Getting a bit of a break from our (shitty) new normal and heading to Evanston for the weekend for Doug’s niece’s wedding. It’ll be really nice to focus on something that’s not so heavy for a few days.

I don’t think I’ve ever dreaded anything as much as I do this appointment tomorrow. When you don’t know everything yet you can kind of live in denial. I’m fully terrified.

I’m so fucking fried. I went into Home Depot to copy some keys and while I was waiting, I saw out of the corner of my eye some guy grabbing a kid by the hair. I was about to react when I realized it was a Bride of Chuckie animatronic Halloween decoration.
