Walking. Eating. Gardening. Friends. History. Sci-Fi. Oh yes, and trees. Love trees
@talesofbritireland.bsky.social love this podcast. Currently am a bit unwell and this is just the thing. Especially on a cold dark winter December day.

I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.
Ensure HIV treatment for all.
End HIV stigma.

Watching #JudgementAtNuremberg making me feel angry and sick. It’s an horrific watch. Especially given the current political climate and the fools who would have us forget what WW2 was about.

I've written about mead and its popular perception for The Conversation. theconversation.com/the-truth-ab... Mildly concerned that by pointing out that the Vikings (probably) didn't drink (much) mead, I will have annoyed all the re-enactors, many of whom have swords oh dear.
The truth about Vikings and mead might disappoint modern enthusiasts
The standard drink was far more likely to be ale.

When windy place your best ear to the bark of an oak tree, and with a hand stop all noise entering the other ear

When you get used to the embarrassment from the looks of passers by, you can concentrate on listening THROUGH the tree to the trunk & branches working with the wind
