Contemplating what Bluebook citation I need for a Discord post over my third cup of coffee this morning and I feel like I have made some fantastically interesting life choices.

No, you're doing research on the 9th Amendment tonight like the last square of the bingo card.
Not me.

It's probably a good sign that they've turned off comments here.
Even when they show signs of weakness or forced regret, we must not give an inch. Authoritarian governments still respond to public opinion, which is why sustained pressure matters. We have to keep making clear that these thuggish actions are unconscionable and will not be tolerated. Don’t let up.

Imagine if you'd just taken this entire weekend offline and are just surfacing into this.
(I didn't, but I can consider this as an option for some Feb weekends)

You could actually structure your moral code around the idea that law enforcement doesn't exist to execute people. You don't have to create perfect victim narratives, you can just refuse to accept that the state gets to kill people.

I wish there was a way to teach juniors (aside from "stove touching") that it is not that you will not make errors or that you will drop something, it is how fast you recover that counts.

All I can do is model it in my own practice.

This was just the most pleasant reframing for 'why is torment nexus' 'but all my friends are in the torment nexus!'.
Sorry to earnest-post, but I love this place and am very grateful to have met so many great people here.

When I spend time here, I'm frequently reminded that there are other people who feel the same way I do about art, politics, human rights, and whatever else.

It gives me hope.

Thank you 💙
