Acknowledging theatre education’s loaded inheritance & building on neuroscience to argue why teaching & directing through shock & manipulation cannot continue, we posit a framework for Consent-Based Pedagogy.

A second sighting!

I’m excited that other artists and educators are already receiving and reading the Theatre Artist’s Guide to Consent-Based Pedagogy!

Newsom out here preaching bias, then telling those he’s judging not to hold it against him. Conform, embrace enforced waspiness, and smile about it.

He’s so inauthentic and absolutely is NOT the future of a party with any ethics. Living in CA I don’t know how to convince the rest of the US of this.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

Sure. Or grill them harder. Question their competence. “You’re a US Senator. How can you not know about this? This is a big deal. So are you genuinely ignorant or are you lying about being ignorant? Which do you think is worse for your constituents and American democracy?”
If they pretend they haven’t heard about the story of the day, end the interview right there.

“I’m sorry, Senator, we wanted to get your perspective on this story, but it seems you’re not fully aware of what’s going on.”

It is abhorrent how much of our populace just gets off on imagining themselves on the distributing end of extrajudicial violence & crimes against humanity at home and abroad.

What the fuck.

Today a colleague argued that actor-consent has no place in university settings because it erases faculty’s academic freedom.

And others agreed.

WHY are we pretending that art necessitates control and manipulation, or that artist-educators have no ethical responsibilities to our student-artists?

SCOOP: Sources tell me Donald Trump's name was added to the exterior of the US Institute of Peace building ahead of Thursday's peace agreement signing between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which will be held inside the building. Confirming if it's been officially renamed.

Bottom line:

ALL of the strikes are extrajudicial killings under international law, murder under domestic law.

That's true of a first strike on any of these boats, & also of Sept 2 strike killing shipwrecked survivors (which would *also* be illegal in an armed conflict, but the US isn't in one).

One of the reasons I think it’s also essential to not call the boat strikes “war crimes” but “crimes against humanity,” is that it emphasizes that Trump and Hegseth are acting extra-constitutionally and are not entitled to any shield from the courts. This systematic murder of civilians is illegal.

The thing where conservatives think they should be able to go to college to teach experts instead of to learn from them shows how coddled they have been by society. We need to stop disrespecting them by shielding them with accommodation; let’s respect their beliefs by releasing them to the effects.

WHOA. Trump says he will pardon Juan Orlando Hernandez, who once said that he wanted to “shove the drugs right up the noses of the gringos.” He had people killed as part of his narco-trafficking ring, which he at times operated directly out of his presidential office.

A hugely important thread.

ASU has also been mass-producing online content à la degree/certificate mills rather than focusing on inquiry, challenge, individualized learning. And it’s profited. I fear other unis will follow suit in the continued MBAification and fascism-friendliness of #highered
Talked about this article somewhere else and someone wanted me to talk a bit more about it so here ya go! First, gift link. Second, my overwhelming takeaway is that, in a world where we rebuild in the coming decades, a good chunk of universities need new leadership.

This is a lovelly article. Shout out to my mate @eyebright-iris.bsky.social whose primer on bleed from running VTM larps ended up in a bunch of OOC channels around the games midpoint. Expect my own blog going into all the times this game made me cry sometime soon.
"Players reported dreaming about Over/Under, losing sleep, even forgetting to eat."

@lincodega.com writes about the intensity of Mothership Month's hyperbaric roleplay experience and the bleed that resulted from a lack of conventional safety tools.

When a topic is banned, we lose the collective capacity to think critically about it, as even the most basic introductions become overwhelmingly revelatory. Unfathomable.

This isn’t how universities function; it’s how parochial schools pursue religious adherence.
