(I support this apple stuff content)
“I think it’s a really unfortunate narrative to tie the success of any downtown to the employees of any one business ... Our job is not ever going to be revitalizing any sort of downtown. Right? To put that on the backs of state employees, is a really dangerous narrative.”
State workers union: Success of downtowns should not rely on employees returning to office
It's been four months since state employees were mandated to spend 50% of their work schedule in the office.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
Join me and other TC folks as we process our current slide into societal collapse 🫠 ...but I promise it will be fun and we need spaces like this to be together to reflect and to see what's ahead. I can't wait!

In the 1950s, National Geographic wanted Kodachrome nature photography that really popped in print. One trick was to put foreground subjects (hikers, etc.) in bright colors; it was called the "red shirt school". Dick Lasher's Pinto makes this the greatest red shirt school photo of all time.
Tomorrow, we will talk about this photo.
A red Ford Pinto hatchback angles across a narrow gravel forest service road, a blue enduro motorcycle on a rear hitch carrier. Tall firs frame the view. Beyond them, a towering ash cloud from a pyroclastic density flow billows skyward. Photo by Richard Kent Lasher, May 18, 1980.
I went skateboarding with pals tonight and had so much fun!!!
...I think you can only get them from 25 cent machines?
my eyes are currently peeled for one! hoping my local grocery store has one!
I have an urge to buy a bouncy ball. like, as a late 30s person, I could really tear it up with one of those.

Great article on the upcoming Dreamstate Cafe on 26th and Lyndale (the old Common Roots/Hi Flora space).

The article says "they're leasing the back of it to a yet-to-be-announced bookstore"—I'm hearing it will be Boneshaker's new location!
Coming Soon: Dreamstate Cafe in Uptown
Reverie's owners are bringing a new all-day, plant-based café to the former Common Roots and Hi Flora space on Lyndale Avenue.
