#BHN The government keeps telling NZ that the unions need to get back to the negotiating table, while the government also refuse to accept a date for the unions to get back to the table to negotiate #nzpol #NZPolitics @chewienz.bsky.social

This is an important video to share today #megastrike

I suggest MPs' salary increases should be no higher than the lowest increase won by public servants in collective bargaining during the corresponding parliamentary term. If we can't afford to pay teachers, nurses & doctors more, then we can't afford to pay politicians more either. #NZPol
Pay bump for politicians: What you need to know
Explainer - MPs are about to get a pay bump, but is it fair and how does it compare to other countries?

Oh this is dreadful.

The cost of living impacts of the government's policies are dire enough that my nice middle class life is affected. It must be incredibly difficult (impossible) to get by on a benefit right now, so sanctions like this will throw people into desperate situations.
#nzpol
13,200 financial sanctions were imposed during June 2025 quarter, ~4400 a month. This continued in Sept quarter.

That means thousands of NZ beneficiaries and families had their already low incomes halved or stopped. Is starvation National's plan to save $?

Very few beneficiaries offered new non-financial sanctions, thousands have benefit cut
Thousands have had their benefits cut since new non-financial sanctions were introduced, and only nine offered the new alternative.

WE don’t have any money. THEY have some money, but it’s not for us.
I came home from hospital today healthy and happy, after having a lesion chopped out of my lung. But I’d like to dedicate my medal to the staff who took such good care of me, who all deserve pay rises and better staffing and conditions 🙌🏼✊🏼
You did. You should be proud. Aotearoa needs more politicians like you 👑

Your regular reminder that unions represent PEOPLE. They are simply the voice of the PEOPLE they represent.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
Attack them and you’re attacking the people they represent.
It’s pretty simple.

IKR? Senior medical professionals being lectured by someone with the life experience of a pampered poodle. I’d want to slap him (except I don’t condone violence).
I’m loving the inflatable animal action at the #NoKings parades. #NZPol we need someone to make Archey’s pepeketua, Tūī, Kākā, Hoihō ones for our protests. Hīnana!
I’m a patient right now in one of our hospitals, receiving exceptional care from surgeons, anaesthetists, doctors, nurses & healthcare assistants. But they are tired, frustrated and angry, and should be treated better by (and I quote) “our 12yr old health minister” #Respect #Solidarity #NZPol
Simeon Brown threatens doctors that remain
An exodus of professionals are leaving - with Kiwi citizens fleeing at levels we haven't seen in 24 years. These include community GPs, doctors & nurses - and Simeon is going after those that remain

1/3 8 things that Workers First members have won through union negotiations with #Kmart:

When our MPs are attacking unions they are attacking workers.

I’m sick of RW govts trying to separate “the unions” from their members.

“The unions” can’t take strike actions without balloting members. “The unions” aren’t forcing members to strike; they can’t. Members are voting to strike, because of shite offers from this govt.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon blames unions for ongoing strike action
"I think people are getting sick of unions prioritising the politics over patients," Christopher Luxon says.

"A future president, even dumber than you, will allow Qatar, the country that harbored Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the architect of the plane attacks in NY, PA, and DC today, and whose royal family will help him escape capture by the US, to build a military base on US soil to train Qataris to fly jets."

Well, that didn’t go how I hoped it would. To say I’m a little disappointed in the NZ voting public’s decision on Māori wards is an understatement. Here’s a thought about aspiring to the bare minimum (& given our #nitrate problem even that might be too much)

So disappointing - you deserved to continue your amazing mahi for Te-Whanganui-a-Tara. But I actually can't wait to see what you do next! Kia kaha, and ngā mihi nui for your all your mahi (and shining a light on the shit you had to put up with) ✊💚
