Today I wrapped up my affairs in Ottawa - parliamentary office closed down and secondary residence emptied. A farewell, not necessarily a goodbye.

It’s a weird feeling to be back here without a job to return to, but I’ve really enjoyed reuniting with old colleagues and staff.

Congratulations to @donvdavies.bsky.social on being named as interim leader of the @ndp.ca.

There’s a lot of rebuilding to do in the weeks and months ahead, but I know Don has the capabilities and experience to get our party on that path.

The strange part about going out into your community after an election loss is that it feels a bit like consoling people at your own funeral.

An early morning hike up Maple Mountain clears the head wonderfully!

Now it’s time to head down and into the chaos of E-Day. Let’s do this!

With 2 weeks down and 3 weeks to go, I wanted to take a pause from a rainy day on the campaign trail to say thank you to everyone who is making this local campaign in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford a success.

And it’s now official: my name will be on the ballot for our federal election here in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.

I visited Elections Canada’s office in Langford today to hand in my papers to the Returning Officer - now it’s back to knocking on doors!

Our campaign is powered by volunteers, who have generously given their time to help win this riding.

I couldn’t do this without you; thank you!

Today the NDP received the endorsement of 3 major Canadian unions, representing over 1 million workers: CUPE, the United Steelworkers, and the Amalgamated Transit Union.

Today, CSIS confirmed India interfered with Poilievre's leadership race.

But Poilievre refuses to get his security clearance, so CSIS can’t share detailed intel with him.

Poilievre refuses to protect the integrity of his own party & refuses to protect our democracy.

This afternoon I visited beautiful Thetis Island for a meeting with local residents at their community hall.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the great conversations!

Vimy or Vichy - the choice is simple.
We know where Danielle Smith and Pierre Poilievre stand.
I stand for Canada.
See you on the ridge my friends.

And we’re off!

The federal election campaign has officially begun, and my team is already off to a strong start, with sign crews around the riding.

See you on the campaign trail!

We got absolutely soaked while door knocking in North Cowichan today, and we may have even earned some support out of sympathy!

But never mind the weather; it’s always great to get out and say hello to folks where they live.

Thank you for your support!

An election will be called most likely Sunday! Just a reminder when you send an NDP’er to the House of Commons we work and WIN for people! Our team of NDP MP’s used our power to win meaningful benefits for people. We are ready to do it again. #LetsGo

We’re probably well past the time that this should have been done.
At what point does Global Affairs Canada issue a travel warning to Canadians heading to the US?

Because I think we're thoroughly at the point at which this is necessary.

Ha ha! No worries! Great to run into you today, and thank you for the warm welcome!
Just had a visit on this super rainy day from my Member of Parliament @alistairmacgregor.bsky.social who happened to recognize me from my podcast 😆

Was great to see you! Would've grabbed the selfie, but you know, pajamas and all lol

A rainy day in Cowichan Bay! But we’re not made out of sugar, so onward to each door we go.

I’m so lucky to be out again and with a different volunteer today - our volunteers make all the difference and are what makes up our strong ground game here in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.

The Conservatives will miss the carbon tax the most.

Now there’s no cover for them to hide from the massive corporate profits that the oil and gas sector makes every year, hoovering that straight from Canadians’ hard-earned money.

The convoy crew held the people of Ottawa hostage and tried to divide people with rage politics.
No wonder they are freaked out by Canadian solidarity and goodwill.
They promote bitterness.

Happy International Women’s Day!

As we celebrate the remarkable achievements in human rights, economic development, science, arts and culture, politics and more made by Canadian women, I am forever grateful for the amazing women role models and leaders I’ve met and continue to meet across Canada.

This is not surprising. The Conservatives missed 11 of 13 meetings during the Health Committee's tour across Canada to study the toxic drug crisis. They can make time for a press conference, but don't show up to do the hard work. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
