Grateful to co-host an event on Tuesday with MPs, Senators and advocates to push for my Bill C-206, a national brain injury strategy. Survivors’ voices showed why we must act. All parties have backed this before. Thanks to our co-sponsors and supporters. Hopeful we can make this a reality.

Honoured to receive the 2025 Jim Carr Forest Community Champion Award. Forestry is vital to Vancouver Island, and I’ll keep pushing for sustainable jobs, innovation, and Indigenous-led stewardship. Grateful to share the moment with Huu-ay-aht Chief John Jack.

Last week’s barge emergency near Bella Bella shows why Canada needs real container-spill preparedness. Heiltsuk Nation responders prevented disaster — but luck isn’t a plan. It’s time to pass my Bill C-215 and create a national strategy to protect coastal communities and our oceans.

Met astronaut Jeremy Hansen in Ottawa as he prepares for Artemis II. His intelligence, empathy and focus on our future stood out. He’s a remarkable leader and role model for young Canadians. Cheering him on as he heads toward the Moon.

Mark Carney’s Liberals and Danielle Smith’s Alberta Government’s attempt to lift the tanker moratorium on the north Coast, betray First Nations and the Province of BC. Free, prior, informed consent must guide any project—breaking that promise erodes trust and puts sustainable projects at risk.

Yesterday, I sounded the alarm in the HOC that key federal fisheries programs that protect Pacific salmon and repair critical habitats are set to expire in March, and the federal government has still not confirmed their renewal.

Time is running out.

The government must renew these programs now.

Coastal communities are running out of time. Key salmon and habitat programs expire in March, and Ottawa still hasn’t announced renewals. As I said in the Hill Times: we can’t take our foot off the gas. Coastal ecosystems and local jobs depend on action now. #SalmonStrong

Nuxalk teachers protected children from a grizzly attack and Heiltsuk Guardians prevented a barge disaster. Coastal First Nations are leading. Ottawa must meet them with honesty—not backroom talks about weakening the tanker moratorium on the #Great Bear Coast.

This is a huge step backward for Canada. PM Carney’s lack of prioritization of women’s issues is deeply concerning. A feminist foreign policy is non-negotiable in building a safer world for women and girls.

Proud to join Movember leaders Michelle Terry, Jesse Shea, Todd Minerson & Paul Lacerte for a powerful night on men’s health. Too many men wait too long for help — we need a national strategy that saves lives and supports families. #Movember #MensHealth #Cdnpoli #Movember #MensHealth #MoCommunity

Thanks to CBC On The Island guest-host Jason de Souza for the chance to explain why I abstained on the budget vote, with support of NDP Caucus.. I heard clearly from mayors, Chiefs & constituents: no election now. I won’t back a budget that falls short—but I’ll always bring your voices to Ottawa.

Thank you to Wayne Coulson for the shout-out! We’ve pushed hard for federal investment in a national aerial-firefighting fleet because communities need stronger initial-attack capability now. Coulson Aviation’s leadership keeps Canadians safer-let’s get this funded.#GordJohnsMP #BCWildfires #cdnpoli

I was honoured to join New Democrats from across the province at the BC NDP Convention in Victoria. It was a great opportunity to stand with progressives who care deeply about social, environmental, and economic justice — and to connect with many supporters from Courtenay–Alberni who made the trip.

52,000 Canadians have died from a poisoned drug supply — one of the worst per-capita tolls in the world. Yet Budget 2025 has zero mention of the toxic-drug crisis. No plan, no timeline, no funding. I asked the government: when will it finally take this emergency seriously?

Joined Catherine Cullen on CBC’s Rosemary Barton Live to discuss the budget. With record unemployment and a growing cost-of-living crisis, we’re analyzing one thing: does it help working people? I’m listening to folks across Courtenay–Alberni. All options remain on the table.

I don’t weigh in on Alberta politics — every province charts its own course. But the message from #ForeverCanadian resonates: we’re stronger together. Here in Courtenay–Alberni, our work in ship-recycling, local food, and climate-resilient forestry depends on a united Canada. Forever Canadian.

Every year before I head home for Remembrance Day, I visit the National Military Cemetery. A quiet moment to honour those who never returned, and the families and communities forever changed by their sacrifice. We recommit ourselves to peace. Lest we forget.
