Today I wrapped up my affairs in Ottawa - parliamentary office closed down and secondary residence emptied. A farewell, not necessarily a goodbye.

It’s a weird feeling to be back here without a job to return to, but I’ve really enjoyed reuniting with old colleagues and staff.

An early morning hike up Maple Mountain clears the head wonderfully!

Now it’s time to head down and into the chaos of E-Day. Let’s do this!

With 2 weeks down and 3 weeks to go, I wanted to take a pause from a rainy day on the campaign trail to say thank you to everyone who is making this local campaign in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford a success.

And it’s now official: my name will be on the ballot for our federal election here in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.

I visited Elections Canada’s office in Langford today to hand in my papers to the Returning Officer - now it’s back to knocking on doors!

Our campaign is powered by volunteers, who have generously given their time to help win this riding.

I couldn’t do this without you; thank you!

Come and join our team of happy warriors, as we work to paint the riding orange!

You can reach us at 250-737-3887 or [email protected]. You can also drop by our campaign office on the corner of Trunk and Festubert in Duncan.

This afternoon I visited beautiful Thetis Island for a meeting with local residents at their community hall.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the great conversations!
March 25, 2025 at 11:19 PM
And we’re off!

The federal election campaign has officially begun, and my team is already off to a strong start, with sign crews around the riding.

See you on the campaign trail!

We got absolutely soaked while door knocking in North Cowichan today, and we may have even earned some support out of sympathy!

But never mind the weather; it’s always great to get out and say hello to folks where they live.

Thank you for your support!
March 22, 2025 at 2:26 AM
A rainy day in Cowichan Bay! But we’re not made out of sugar, so onward to each door we go.

I’m so lucky to be out again and with a different volunteer today - our volunteers make all the difference and are what makes up our strong ground game here in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.

It was a mix of Spring weather today in #Langford, and it was awesome knocking on doors with this happy crew.

I agree that Pierre Poilievre needs to get security clearance. Every Leader should. It’s sketchy that he hasn’t.

But it’s disappointing that Mark Carney apparently has time to get his security clearance but not disclose his corporate interests.

As a member of the #SECU Committee, it was a great opportunity to visit CBSA operations at both the Peace Arch and Pacific border crossings with the U.S.

It was nice to meet with professional and informed local CBSA leadership to talk about what’s really happening at the border.

February is Black History Month in Canada, and today I was honoured to be invited to the Children and Families of African Heritage Society (CHAFAHS) in Duncan.

Thank you for the wonderful welcome, the great food, and fun music today!

A bit drizzly today in Langford, but that didn’t stop our team from hitting multiple neighborhoods this morning and afternoon, talking with lots of folks who were home about their concerns and offering solutions for the way forward.

60 years ago today, the red Maple Leaf was first flown from the Peace Tower.

Our flag is instantly recognizable around the world - a symbol many of us have on our backpacks when travelling abroad.

Happy National Flag Day! Let’s all remember why Canada is worth fighting for.

Ottawa in January is quite the shock to the system!

I’m here for a couple of days to chair some caucus meetings - we’re working on ways to fight billionaires and greedy corporations to bring more fairness back to working families and small businesses in our local communities.

Today I was pleased to attend the official handover of the old RCMP building at 6060 Canada Ave to Cowichan Tribes.

Cowichan Tribes purchased the former RCMP detachment property from the Municipality of North Cowichan for $1.2 million, and it will serve as their new emergency services home.

Today was a beautiful day in North Cowichan to get some time out on the doorsteps!

It was wonderful to connect directly with constituents in their neighborhoods and share some of the work I’ve been doing to fight against corporate greed and dominance in our grocery retail sector.

My statement in reaction to today’s announcement:
January 6, 2025 at 7:24 PM
A federal election is coming sooner rather than later.

You still have time for your year-end donation (qualifying for a generous tax credit), and we’re looking to build our army of volunteers.

You can do both on our website: cmlndp.ca.

The Christmas puzzle challenge has begun…

It was nice to meet up with my federal NDP colleagues, @laurelcollins.bsky.social and @gordjohns.bsky.social at John Horgan’s memorial service yesterday.

There were a lot of laughs and some tears, as we remembered John from Langford, our 36th, and arguably best, Premier of British Columbia.

Our motion to permanently remove the GST from essentials and to provide a rebate cheque to seniors and persons with disabilities yesterday caused a Liberal-Conservative coalition!

Both of the corporatist parties voted against much-needed relief for Canadians.

The Peace Tower has been lit up in purple tonight to honour the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
