Let’s hope @unison.org.uk also now tackles the Anti-Black agenda that broke out during the restructuring of #NHSEngland - let’s see more on action in support of members and less on words. @rogerkline.bsky.social @hsj.co.uk

Don’t worry this government has found a way to “cure” health inequalities by simply ending capture of data on ethnicity for both National Mental Health Survey on Prevalence & Morbidity & The Excess Mortality data. Sure they can work same solution on PE. Anything can look better without numbers?

Private equity takeover of US hospitals led to rise in patient deaths.

Cuts to staffing/investment; high debt, profiteering; worse patient outcomes.

More deaths in nursing homes, increased post-operative complications

Why is UK Govt handing the NHS to PE? Why no investigation of the impact of PE?
Private equity takeover of hospitals led to rise in Medicare emergency patient deaths, says study
Study found seven more deaths per 10,000 patients in private equity hospitals’ versus non-private equity hospitals

Anyone puzzled by constant media reference to #TommyRobinson driving a Bentley when arrested? The great British marque -or it was until it was brought by Volkswagen who were founded by the Nazi government to create an affordable "People's Car"-oh well his $ & ₪ keep rolling in after each arrest.

Given rising excess mortality post COVID19 & disparity of mortality in for Black & Asian people- makes it inexplicable that a @teamlabouruk.bsky.social government is ‘burying’ data on ethnicity by cancelling its capture! @jacoblant.bsky.social @laylamoran.bsky.social @libdemdaisy.bsky.social
Screen shot of excess mortality reporting first published May 2025 -updated September Table showing ethnicity data was captured. Not captured now

But the stats sadly don’t tell us, what contribution COVID19 infection & an inflammatory disease is making to early mortality of people with diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Keloid Disorder. We don’t know if it’s one of many Oncovirus - & cancer linked?

The forthcoming Keep Britain Working Review offers the government the opportunity to rebalance work and health support towards retention and rehabilitation, and a reformed Access to Work scheme should be central to that.

@swjatwell.bsky.social responds to the latest government statistics ⬇️
swjatwell.bsky.social
Latest Access to Work stats are out today

They show continued growth in the number of awards and spend, about 70% increase in both since 2019.

This is not hugely surprising: there's now 4.1m workers with a work-limiting health condition, up from 2.4m a decade ago

I had this really elaborate, funny and slightly daft cover reveal planned then I thought, nah, let me keep it simple. Really simple. Here’s the beauteous cover for book 23 - #TheQuietGirls designed by Becky Gilbbery. Can’t wait for you to read it.

Out March 2026.
Author Dorothy Koomson - Black woman with big twists holding a book cover. The cover is blue, white and yellow and has words The Quiet Girls in white.

It certainly captured SheffieldSteel- the original modest application for a feasibility study costing a few quid envisaged an exhibition box & performance space to celebrate SoundofSheffield. But the Funding panel insisted the team needed £1m plus for F-study & grand design to secure funding.

I really like it but it's a difficult building to repurpose because of its layout
alexankrah.bsky.social
That’s a pity: time to rename after its biggest fan on the funding panel: perhaps #LordDavidPutnam library of film? Or too early for the #SirNickClegg HallamMuseum of Facebook

What policy themed visitor trail would you do upon retirement? I would pilgrimage to visit the 100 Rishi Sunak outdoor chess sets around the country. I genuinely think it would be one of those fun random things that would take me to places I’d never otherwise go to
alexankrah.bsky.social
But think @hetanshah.bsky.social that Jack’s tour must be disqualified. The National Centre for Popular Music-Sheffield had around £11m from ACE lottery (Not MC) & is not closed it sold to @sheffieldhallamuni.bsky.social

Sadly very little to No research on older people & #EDS or its interaction with other conditions. I can understand that in relation to say Marfans because historically diagnosis was poor & life expectancy impacted. But not the case with EDS.
