This is a very helpful explainer about what the federal Dept of Education does. (Short answer: it’s not state curricular guidance.) #EduSky

Do you know what happens when graduate student funding is cut? Often, it means we ALL miss out on their new, promising ideas bc the project doesn’t go forward.

Getting a grant like this is incredible! I’m so sorry this happened to you, Megan. Sorry for all of us who could have benefited.

With @dahlialithwick.bsky.social on the many implications—all horrifying—of the Trump administration reviving seemingly unconstitutional Red Scare–era laws to abduct and disappear Mahmoud Khalil, without due process, in retaliation against his protected speech. slate.com/news-and-pol...
I want to reiterate something you said, because it's deadly serious: No matter what you think of what Khalil said and did, he was charged with no crime. He was given no notice. He was simply taken from his home and disappeared.
And we have to be really, really afraid when there isn't even an attempt on the part of government lawyers to say there was a crime-when, instead, they simply hang everything on a dusty old statute and a dubious claim that we think he's dangerous to the United States.
Because if they're coming for that, they're coming for all of us.

This is who was fired from the union workforce at the Department of Education yesterday. Every single number is a person who served the nation and whose life was wrongly disrupted. That's the first tragedy, but it's clearly not the only one.

the problem with the "trans sports participation is a loser / 80-20 issue" framing is that it ignores how it got that way. it didn't just happen out of nowhere. It's been a 5+ year campaign by Republicans to make it an 80-20 issue, and noone fought back.

Every time you see what sounds like a wild claim about woke research, you can assume a) it will fall apart under the most basic of inspection, b) the person making the claim will never be held accountable for lying, and c) it is a cover to gut useful research that we benefit from.

Trump claimed the Biden administration spent $8 million "making mice transgender." The White House tried to back up this number with records of funding for research into cancer, asthma, and HIV, some of which used *transgenic* (genetically modified) mice.
Trump Decried Millions Spent 'Making Mice Transgender.' It Was Cancer and Asthma Research
President Trump falsely claimed that Biden spent $8 million on 'making mice transgender,' but the real research was for human health.

We are hoping to hear from NH paraeducators, classroom teachers, specialists, and/or school administrators. Please also share with colleagues in your building/district!

As faculty & researchers, we haven't yet done nearly enough of this kind of listening. #EduSky

Really useful if you need to explain university finances.

60% of research money for overhead isn’t “siphoning,” it’s “budgeting.” Who do you think pays for heat & upkeep in university buildings? The people who specialize in grant payroll & admin so we can focus on the research? Our grants do.

Private educational data needs to be protected. Thank you, AFT. #EduSky
