If you listen to the actual audio, it's very clear that she didn't misspeak. She was told she was wrong, but she refused to listen and continued to double and triple down.

What Gilibrand says here, and how she says it, underlies that the people she’s speaking for, people who identify as Liberal Zionists, have a deep seated racism and baggage about Islam that recently they have been demanding be catered to. It is essential that no one do that, or this happens.

Since 2020 I have felt a trend of the Democratic Party making a mockery of whatever supposed commitments it had to racial justice, but what has happened with Islamophobia has made me unable to stomach them at all. There has zero pushback and almost no acknowledgement as it gets uglier and uglier.

It literally says “who served in the Israeli military” and its people who participated in this genocide. Yet @jillfilipovic.bsky.social paints it as a Nazi pogrom. This performed stupidity is not any less bigoted or lethal than conservative white supremacy. Liberalism won’t survive this racism.

I can see a lot of liberals trying their damn best to ignore how we got here. It’s like every week there’s a new fascist disaster whose roots are in anti Palestinian and anti Muslim racism and democrats try their best to remove that context so they don’t have to change their support for that racism.

I feel like 2017-2024 has had this bizarre evolution in American liberalism where they believe they are definitionally not racist, and so they think this kind of sickening and disqualifying racism won’t have any consequence and won’t alienate minorities who believe in our basic right to dignity.

This is a democratic congressman arguing that there is a genocide in Gaza, but that someone else entirely is “responsible.” This is the kind of white supremacist and psychotic doublespeak that liberals call out when Trump does it. But they’re choosing to be as poisoned by racism as he is.

I am convinced that this is driven by some obsession by white liberals to never set a precedent that a racial oppressor gaining greatly by harming a minority group makes them in any way complicit. These words are delusional and would never be said about Russia, china, or any other country.
I don't like to say "pro-Israel" because I think what is happening in Gaza is by any measure a disaster for Israel long-term and probably sooner than that. I don't see how wanting to kill Palestinians makes you "pro-Israel". Quite the opposite, really.

I think that if you were not familiar with the supposed political values of the Democratic Party, its performance over the last five months would lead you to conclude that they are primarily a pro-genocide party with center right economics and a fierce commitment to loyalty and gate keeping.
