why can’t I get any work done

Is it because I’m worried about

- measles
- civil war
- freezing to death in the coming winter storm
- transatlantic imperial conflict
- paralyzing confusion over what century I’m in

surprise it’s all of the above

AI is inevitable, just buy it and don’t question it, say AI salespeople, months before they plead for more AI sales to prevent death of AI

But like Jean mentions, the consumers who should have been pointing this out bought in because they were afraid of missing out on the wallet inspection
Higher ed institutions should be much more critical of AI instead of falling all over themselves to implement AI in the curriculum just because they've bought into this story of inevitability that is being pushed by people who, guess what, stand to benefit financially from that story.

I’ve been doing nothing but solve problems at work today. I’m done with that. I’m only accepting problems that are already solved for the rest of the day. I am closed to unsolved problems.

Finished ABSOLUTION by @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social. A return to Area X, but not a return, because Area X resists returning.

An incredible achievement from a powerful storyteller and prose stylist.

The SC measles epidemic has moved into schools in our county. Not our school yet. (Yet.)

r/AskHistorians has a good rundown. tl;dr, no evidence that it's actually a Nazi slogan (as you've noted elsewhere). However, one of the answers includes similar examples from a variety of adventure novels, etc., which I thought might interest you. www.reddit.com/r/AskHistori...

the funniest part of sourcing the latest Facebook copy/paste magic from internet sovereign citizens is tracking the debunking articles’ identical exasperation through time. ten years ago, eighteen months ago, yesterday, each one is identically fed up with this bullshit. only the incantations change.

I’ve been wishing we would attach a lab period to first year writing forever. Would love to see this as part of more writing classes.

Instead of quiet quitting the take-home essay, we need a whole new model for writing instruction. https://bit.ly/4qyaPJa

couldn't figure out why the amazon window shrank by 1/3 with some searches (have a gift card, don't @ me). disabled my ad blocker to find it's a panel opened up by their dumbass chatbot. before i figured it out, it just looked like their site shrank to the right in a weird CSS malfunction.

the Bluesky iOS app is sluggish to nonresponsive over WiFi (usually reports as NC), fine on cellular (SC). inconsistent on VPN, which does not terminate in either state. an IT problem for me to chase down when I feel like it (never)
