Elections are not run by the Feds. One thing I encourage folks to do - which I do - is become a poll worker (or observer, if you have a legal background) and meet the folks who actually do run elections, and find out how they work.

As @akivamcohen.bsky.social mentioned, activating the guard gives Trump the predicate to federalize them immediately, so it’s just a force multiplier to Trump’s forces. There is not a “Make this all stop” button and especially not one that runs through “turn into a hot war against the US military”

No govt shutdown will end that funding stream, and there aren’t 2/3s votes in each chamber to rescind the funding & override a veto.
