I write a newspaper column about Scottish history, historians and heritage.

I’m keen to feature more Early Career Researchers. Their work might not otherwise be publicised to a wide audience. Do you know anyone who might like to be in the column?

Wealth in the UK is extremely concentrated at the top: over half belongs to the richest 10%, while the richest 1% control over a fifth by themselves. But the bottom half of the population – nearly 34 million people – have less than 1/20th between them. This is bad for all of us. It has to change.

It'd be cool if the "increasing the cost of motoring hurts poor people" people cared anything like as much about cost to people who rely on public transport - who are disproportionately likely to be poor and disabled, and who consistently face far greater increases in cost.

Many will be pleased to see the back of the awful two-child cap and rape clause, but hard to understand how Reeves was happy to a) keep it going for 16 months and b) see MPs suspended for wanting it ended, if she really thinks it an unconscionable policy

Fantastic piece on the importance of tenants' organising in 21st century Britain, for both those in the private and 'social' housing sector. Points to the central role that women play and have always played in tenant-led organisations

We've made some progress, thank you so much! I could still use around another £400 if Bluesky can find a way to dig deep this month to help a trans dude get back on his meds.
Folks, I need to ask for some help this month.

My US testosterone scrip has run out & I can't wait the 7+ years it takes to get seen by the UK NHS to renew it. I've been working w private practitioners to fast track getting hormones & this has been an extra £500 this month

Any help is appreciated

What a horrible decision. The high cost of tuition in England and Wales already saddles students with life-long debt burdens. Raising them further will only widen the attainment gap. All in the name of making students pay off the debts that their institutions have taken on. Shameful.
