Surprised this guy didn’t call them lunatics, haters, and punk trash
Chip Roy: "The truth is the marxist, radicals, and Islamists the Democratic Party promoted this weekend, they cannot handle the truth. The truth is that there is a king and that king is Jesus. And the president has been willing to say it, & Charlie Kirk was willing to say it & he got killed for it."

Began the day by seeing an extremely misguided take about video stores but don't worry: I am working on something about video stores for a currently thriving video store right now!

i see you're doing something online that you have effortlessly done 100,000 times. would you like to use this ai tool? would you like to use this ai tool? would you like to use this ai tool? would you like to use this ai tool? would you like to use this ai tool? would you like to use this ai tool? w
One last thing: the idea that nostalgia is what makes people think fondly of video stores is misplaced. Rarely do people come in for the "video store feel" (which we don't really have anyway). It's usually as a response to a fractured, expensive, and inconsistent digital marketplace.
Particularly wild thing to say when the digital landscape is either walled behind one of a dozen subscription options, on a free streamer with lazily placed pharmaceutical ads, or available as a shitty pirated copy on 123movies
Even if this person broadly meant corporate rental shops like Blockbuster/Hollywood Video (where I still had great and diverse renting experiences growing up), you can't say "video stores" and expect people not to come in with their own set of experiences
Setting aside the thorny falsehood of "unprecedented media abundance," working at a video store for the past five years has introduced me to countless new movies, experiences, and people (many I now consider friends). I'll take the communal experience over any digital landscape no matter the scope.
Someone doesn’t remember how badly going to a video store sucked, and just generally how much worse things were in the 90s-2000s. Oh, it doesn’t work perfectly? Sometimes they just didn’t have the thing you wanted. We live in an era of unprecedented media abundance and it’s has spoiled us rotten.
I would laugh if this wasn't so true 😭
I currently work at a video store and the best part of my shift is talking to everyone about what they thought of movies they just returned, excitement over what they're about to watch, and recommending movies to each other. It makes a largely solitary experience into something genuinely communal!
They've really got their finger on the pulse of their constituency!
That's how my email starts too. I didn't write (I called) and it certainly wasn't about that, so either his office is misrepresenting the messages of his constituents or they simply don't care and sent out a form letter (or, most likely, both).
Really nice of Rep. Mfume to respond to my message back in March about the illegal detainment of Mahmoud Khalil with an email this morning about cosponsoring bills that "extends and expands crucial United States-Israel cooperation agreements." Way to read the room!
Incredibly important update from Letterboxd

State troopers in riot gear just plowed into the crowd, started arresting protesters and clergy.
Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown were in the closet talking to Saquon Barkley and I saw Saquon Barkley and Saquon Barkley looked at me

This is an agent of the US federal government, armed for live-fire combat against a modern army, slamming a passive and nonviolent female candidate for the US Congress into asphalt.

Then walking away without checking if she has injuries, with his identity concealed behind a black facemask.
moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

Important to keep remembering and repeating that Kimmel didn't mock Charlie Kirk or celebrate his death in the monologue. He mocked the president's lack of feeling and criticized the regime.

The media doesn't want you to know that like 92% of Americans died last year from illegal drugs. But we're not going to let them conceal the truth any longer.
Reporter: The president of Venezuela called the strike on the boat illegal

Trump: What’s illegal is the fact that 300 million people died last year from drugs
Apologies to my Eagles fan friends, but what an extremely funny start to the NFL season

I hope the traffic is INSANE for Palmer's jersey day.
In an Orioles season full of low points, the nadir might be hosting a Barstool stooge who doesn't even root for the team for a first pitch
