Q: How many aphorists does it take to change a light bulb?

A: A lot of them, because "many hands make light work"

Bumping this question again for the Christmas gift list
Bike nerds: I have a bag rack on my bike that doesn't fit my saddlebag. It needs that "W" shaped pipe to be like 6 inches taller. Is there a part I can just swap out? Or do I need to buy a whole new rack?

Tolkien and Auden died within days of each other. I guess I think of them as basically contemporary, but Tolkien seems to be part of such a different England I also can't believe they lived in the same century

I get how Kermit/Bob Cratchit and the rats felt closing up the shop before Christmas when I go through my calendar and cancel the recurring meetings that fall on the upcoming holiday

New evil insurance thing: my wife gets a kind of threatening text saying basically "Your medical bill is due, either pay up or set up a payment plan." We call the hospital because we haven't gotten any bills lately. They redirect us through the call center where no one knows anything.

We went to see the local witch, about the sheep you see, and she offered the whole crew a drink when we arrived. I said "I'll do fine without your fiendish brew magic woman", but now it seems like they were just beers. The vibe is pretty loose and fun, I keep finding myself eyeing the fridge.

The dentist recommended a toothpaste for tooth sensitivity and it really has worked wonders. He's going to love it when I come back in a couple of months like "Hey thanks, Doc, I'm back to eating fistfuls of Sour Patch Kids again"

"We're losing so much money on this asset that we refuse to sell, and when we do sell we make 10x profit. Unfortunately I can't show you, because we aren't legally required to open our books"
MLB might not really want a salary cap just yet with so much at stake, but the nonsensical leaks of money they won't prove they actually lost have started anyway. It's CBA season, baby, here's my latest for @baseballprospectus.com

I firmly disagree with everyone who's in the comments defending Braun. But on the other hand they do live in Milwaukee and it's so hard to make new friends as an adult…
Since Braun's use (and admission) is post-2004, I treat that very differently than 90s/early 00s use, though I believe that's a factor to weigh, rather than a binary disqualifying one. it would be enough to knock me off a coin flippy choice if I thought he was closer to Berkman.
