We finally get through to them and they say "Oh, we just put the bill in the mail today." So you're shaking me down for payment on a bill we couldn't have possibly received yet? "Yep, that's our system"

It came today, two weeks later. If you're in such a rush, maybe don't send it by mule cart.

I give up and finally just call a random desk at the hospital itself and ask them to look into it (they usually will, since they know the call center is useless too). They finally figure out it's from a semi-independent lab built into the hospital, but which bills separately.
