"(Memoli's) actions look like those of a leader who has been given broad discretion to shrink down the agencys infectious-disease work—an area where he may have a few personal grievances. “People are afraid of him,” one official said, pausing. “I’m afraid of him.”

ICE pepper-sprayed this 1-year-old girl.

Once at the hospital, the doctor had to call in a poison control specialist.

They had never seen anyone that young pepper sprayed.

Another horrific story.

More details below.

The human cost of Trump's gutting of USAID: By the time Tor Top’s mother was sick with cholera, the nearby clinic had been shuttered for weeks. He bundled her into a canoe & paddled toward the nearest hospital, 8 hours away. Less than halfway into the journey, his mother died.

Vaccines prevent lockdowns.
The most anti-lockdown thing you can do is be pro-vaccine.
Do you get it yet?
More than 250 people who were exposed to measles, including dozens of unvaccinated school-aged children, are quarantining in South Carolina as the state wrestles to contain an outbreak that has sickened more than 110 people.
Hundreds Quarantined in South Carolina as Measles Outbreak Shows No Sign of Slowing
The outbreak shows no signs of slowing, likely because of the affected area’s “lower-than-hoped-for vaccination coverage,” a state health official said.

Bad framing: ACIP voted to scrap the universal hepatitis B vaccine recommendation for newborns.

Accurate framing: Anti-vax conspiracy theorists appointed to ACIP by Robert Kennedy Jr., who made a fortune as an anti-vax profiteer, voted to expose babies to a preventable, incurable, deadly illness.

One of the first patients I saw “talk and die” in the ER had liver cirrhosis and a GI bleed from hepatitis B.

He came in totally lucid and said “I feel like I’m going to die.” Then he proceeded to vomit up his entire blood volume, and despite all our efforts, he died.

This is why we’re so mad.
Tracy Hoeg: Voting to stop universally vaccinating newborns against hep B vaccine would "put us in line with peer countries."

Note: Which peer countries is she talking about? Taiwan began immunizing all babies on first day of life 6 years before the U.S., with huge success.
