This is one of the best puzzle games on the #C64 and indeed, on any computer. Over 125 levels, password locked, 3D and 2D display, overhead map, Tony Crowther - it is flippin' brilliant. I am going to have a go now and I will have spent an hour well, if I don't explode. YES!

A memorable loading screen, for me, 5 square cyan tiles are laid in a cross, with our bomb-difusing expert (a green blob with big eyes, white 3-fingered hands and green feet and a big black nose) is walking towards a red bomb. Bombuzal loading screen - C64. There is also a bit of parquet flooring.

Yeah "micro" was used a lot in the 80s, although it was never a word I heard used outside of the media - it was always "computer" or the make of computer: "Spectrum" etc. And "PC" back then meant a specific type of computer - an IBM-PC compatible.

This reminds me of how the favoured 80s term for a home computer - a "microcomputer" - came about because commercial computers were, comparatively, really small in terms of physical size and components compared to what until the early 70s was what a "computer" was - a big boxy room-filling thing

I love the audacity of porting a game, Populous, that was so clearly designed for mouse to the Mega Drive and somehow making it work. Just a shame they didn't get the sequel as well.

He's also not "sending" him anywhere, what's going to happen if Andrew says no? Are MI5 going to appear in black cars? This'll be something they've discussed and decided amongst themselves as the "best solution", the usual self-regulation so beloved of the UK establishment.

Oh yeah, but it's also about the fact that now, especially someone whose new to a system's back catalogue, the game that came out in 1984 and the game that came out in 1987 are the "same" so the lack of originality in the latter doesn't factor in in the way it did at the time.

Something that really intrigues me is how many actually-good games were under-rated and under-valued at the time for being "old hat", especially in the UK in the late 80s when Crash (and presumably others) would frequently mark games down for being unoriginal or "out of date"

Sorry, but after Savile it is beyond disgraceful that the UK and its punch-drunk and dust-covered institutions still won't treat this issue seriously. And we need a serious look at just to what extent the UK state makes the Windsors immune to legal consequences.
