Set up an ofrenda to prepare for Día de Muertos at the end of the month. When researching my Irish roots, I was surprised to find parallels to Samhain in terms of traditions for welcoming the spirits of passed loved ones back for a night.

I find it a calming, solemn way to end the month

A Halloween craft: i saw the idea for this cute little bat spirit chaser on TikTok and had to make my own. It's hanging on my front door to scare away any ghosties that might try and sneak in when I come and go.

During the month of October, I like to listen to "mildly spooky but not too scary" podcasts. Mr. Ballen is great for this, but I tend to steer away from true crime, so I listen to his "Medical Mysteries" series.

I'm too scared to watch horror movies but I love to read their plot summaries on Wikipedia. A favorite Halloween activity is gathering with friends and reading them out loud like I'm telling campfire ghost stories..
