I think @davidshoebridge.bsky.social is right. I can't see how a failing democracy's considerable armed forces on our soil - particularly when the President of that benighted country uses his military forces against his own people, can do other than threaten Australia's security #auspol #aukus
More and more Australians are seeing through the spin, and working out that Australia being a US base for B52 bombers, nuclear submarines, marines and spy hubs is making us less safe. Much less safe.

As it so happened, I was out and about in the dark several nights last week.

A small mural behind a pub with an image of Oscar Wilde holding a cheeky pint, and the words: “WHEN IT RAINS LOOK FOR RAINBOWS; WHEN IT'S DARK LOOK FOR ТНЕ РUB.”

A pair of whiskey barrels stand in front of the mural.

Spot on.
Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

So, I'm watching Sally Wainwright's excellent Riot Women – and, astonishingly, Joanna Scanlan's character has a copy of my book Daunderlust. I'd LOVE to know how the heck that has come about.

Here's another clip to celebrate Cliff's 85th birthday. This one features him walking around Birmingham in his 1973 film Take Me High. Look out for brutalist landmarks like the Central Library (RIP), Alpha Tower and New Street Signal Box

The closest I've ever got to Brum is passing through it on the train, but having watched this I feel very much that every comedian I've ever heard talk about it has been lying to me. This looks lovely! And so clean!

Ey up! Chuck D just came up to our table and said hello and I replied “you alright Chuck” in my best Leeds accent without thinking. 😳🤦🏼‍♀️🫣.

Ever wondered where all the Cheers title photos are from? I did. And I've gathered everything I can find into this post. That was fun.
