This should be a lesson to all other Democrats: You don’t need to abandon trans rights to win elections!
Susan Crawford wins the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, according to many election analysts.

This after Elon Musk and others poured millions into anti-transgender advertisements in the state.

The anti-trans panic failed in Wisconsin.

This is a major victory for LGBTQ+ people in the state.

Every couple of years the media rediscovers gay Republicans (as if Andrew Sullivan hasn't been writing this same grievance slop for 30 years) but in case you're confused I don't recommend getting the pulse of the queer community from a straight woman in The Wall Street Journal
@erininthemorning.com @transvestigations.bsky.social please do a fact check of this entire article! Clearly it’s very misleading and people need to know!

🚨 1/ SCOOP We all know Pamela Paul is not a good journalist. But in her (poorly argued) WSJ screed on the alleged "growing divide" in LGBTQ circles abt trans rights, she reports ESPECIALLY badly—including abt Jose Arango & his boyfriend who dumped him.

Paul didn't talk to the boyfriend.

I did.
Are they trying to say it was a trans person?🙄
Yeah I know, but it seems like they’ve become even more right wing since Trump took office and are starting to become more overt about it.
The WSJ is a conservative outlet with a history of publishing anti trans content. The fact that they would publish this is sadly not surprising
I’m disappointed but not surprised that the WSJ is platforming Pamela Paul now. They’ve become way more right wing recently.
Can you please do a fact check of this new article in the WSJ? It seems riddled with dangerous misinformation
Keep us updated! Don’t let them quietly put it back!
It’s not just anti trans stuff. Ending the filibuster would also usher in a national abortion ban and likely a national gay marriage ban if SCOTUS overturns Obergefell
The blue dog coalition does not speak for the party as a whole and it’s highly unlikely that progressive Democrats who actually support trans rights will listen to their PAC. 2/2
It must be noted that WelcomePAC is closely affiliated with the blue dog coalition, a small group consisting of only 10 of the most conservative Democrats in Congress like Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez. All of their members have voted or spoken out against trans rights before. 1/2

The elimination of the filibuster at the start of the Trump administration would be the most disastrous thing to happen for trans people federally.

The policies it would usher in would make what we've seen the first 11 months feel like a cakewalk.
If they eliminate the filibuster, it means national bans on gender affirming care, bathroom bans, a sports ban, gender marker bans, elimination of legal recognition etc. It will make life unlivable for trans people in the US, even in blue states. It's a worst case scenario.
Trump: “…BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE GONE STONE COLD “CRAZY,” THE CHOICE IS CLEAR — INITIATE THE “NUCLEAR OPTION,” GET RID OF THE FILIBUSTER AND, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
I really hope you’re right and a bipartisan agreement can still be reached though
Democrats need to realize that, at this point, they’re in a lose-lose situation. They either vote for Republican’s CR or the filibuster is ended and the CR passes anyway. But the latter is much worse since it would also make it easy for republicans to pass their most extreme far right policies.
Under normal circumstances, yes. But I’m extremely worried that we’re getting to the point where they might be willing to do anything to end the shutdown.

Ending the filibuster would be disastrous! Republican’s worst policies like a national abortion ban and national GAC ban would be able to pass.
And 18 year olds who are adults
Stop acting like this only affects “children and youth”! It explicitly also affects 18 year olds who are legal adults!

Some of the proposed rules impact 18-year-olds, too.
Also known as adults.

Hateful, senseless, and in direct contradiction of what doctors actually recommend for their patients.

I hope all of Congress speaks out against this.

I hope some of the people who are forced to go there end up suing!
If this does take effect, I recommend reaching out to the Trans Youth Emergency Project. They are already preparing to help trans youth find private and community based providers who won’t be impacted by the rules.
The decision to sue or do something else about this would likely fall on AG Bonta not Newsom.
There’s not much they can do other than sue, which they definitely will once the rule is officially announced
